The last two weeks the closing laps of DARE Stock features have been a house of horrors for Marcello Rufrano at Stafford Motor Speedway.

On July 3 the 14-year old rookie from North Haven lost the lead late to Tyler Trott in the division’s feature. On July 10 it was Phil Evans making a late move to get around Rufrano for the lead.

Friday Rufrano finally closed the deal, driving to his first career victory in the 15-lap DARE Stock feature at Stafford.

“This is a way overdue win,” Rufrano said. “These last couple of weeks, ya know, the last lap, I was looking in that mirror too much. Before we went out to the race my buddy C.J. he goes ‘Look ahead.’ I didn’t look back once. I just drove my line. I had an amazing car, a great setup. … Victory lane baby.”

Zack Robinson of Putnam was second and Tyler Trott of East Hartford third.

Stephen Kopcik of Newtown led the way in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature. Geoff Boisjolie of Easthampton, Mass. was second and Payton Henry of Willington third.

Albert Saunders of Stafford won the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature. Justin Bren of Monson, Mass. was second and Paul Arute of Tolland third.
