STAFFORD – Bob Charland lit the fire for D.J. Burnham and fanned the flame to victory lane for the East Hartford driver Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Burnham, of East Hartford, used a pass of Stephen Kopcik for the lead coming to the white flag and held on to win the 22-lap SK Light Modified feature Friday at Stafford.

Nick Salva of Prospect was second and Vinny Anglace of Ansonia third.

It was the third victory of the season for Burnham.

“When I get a little angry I tend to drive a little more aggressively,” Burnham said. “It could have been a bad thing, it ended up being a good thing.”

On lap seven Joey Ferrigno made a move to get under then leader Bob Charland. The two came to the frontstrech and contact sent Ferrigno toward the wall and Charland to the infield, and gave Anglace the lead. The race stayed green and Charland went back on the track with the leaders and made contact with Burnham.

“I don’t know what he was thinking,” Burnham said “He came back on the track and ran right into me.”

Burnham shook off the damage and charged to the front.

Coming to the white flag, he dove under Stephen Kopcik going into turn three. Kopcik slid up the track through turn four and fell back.

“I sent it in on the bottom and I felt like he went up the track and came back down,” Burnham said. “I barely touched him with my right front tire. I feel like he came back down on me.”
