Patrick Emerling Wins Pole For Whelen Mod Tour Call Before You Dig 150 At Stafford

STAFFORD – Patrick Emerling’s search for his first victory with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour started with another first for the Orchard Park, N.Y. driver Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Emerling won the pole Friday for the Whelen Modified Tour Call Before You Dig 150 at Stafford Speedway.

It was the first career pole for Emerling.

Emerling toured the half-mile oval at Stafford in 18.379 seconds (97.938 mph).

“It’s our first pole on the Tour, which is awesome,” Emerling said. “When we unloaded we had a great car so I’m pretty stoked. We just have an awesome piece and hopefully we’ll stay up there for the race.”

Bobby Santos III of Franklin, Mass. was second fastest at 18.407 seconds (97.789 mph). Reigning series champion Doug Coby of Milford will start third after posting a qualifying lap of 18.438 seconds (97.624 mph).

Justin Bonsingnore of Holtsville, N.Y. and Troy Talman of Oxford, Mass. tied for the fourth fastest speed in qualifying (18.445 seconds, 97.587 mph). Bonisgnore will get the fourth starting spot because he went out in qualifying before Talman.
