STAFFORD – Thursday night at Richmond International Raceway Ryan Preece saw his first effort in a K&N Pro Series East event cut short by 30 laps when rain ended the UNOH 100 while he was running 14th after starting last in the field.

Friday night at Stafford Motor Speedway a strange fog rolled over the track halfway through the SK Modified feature, but it was clear vision for Preece on a mission to victory.

Preece rolled through the fog with ease and left the field in his swirling wake on the way to victory in the 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature Friday at Stafford.

It was the third SK Modified win of the season at Stafford for the Berlin driver and his first victory since scoring consecutive wins July 10 and July 17.

“It’s a lot of hard work and dedication,” Preece said. “I’ve got a great team behind me and obviously a great crew chief in Mike Paquette with this Chassis Dynamics racecar. We finally got it running like it was two years ago.”

Ronnie Williams of Tolland was second and Joey Cipriano Jr. of Waterbury third.

Preece started seventh in the field and was up to second past Dan Avery by lap four.

On lap five Preece moved past Cipriano for the lead and was never challenged again.

Preece came into the event second in the SK Modified standings, trailing lead Rowan Pennink by 48 points. The victory, coupled with Pennink’s seventh place finish, left Preece 36 points behind with two events remaining this season.
