Michael Bennett Closes Out Title Run With Late Model Win At Stafford Speedway

STAFFORD – Michael Bennett came to NAPA Fall Final Weekend at Stafford Motor Speedway content in knowing there was no worries about chasing points on the track.

Though it hardly looked that way when the green flag fell on the Late Model feature at the track.

Bennett raced from the sixth starting spot to close out his championship year in style at Stafford Speedway by winning the 30-lap Late Model feature Sunday at the half-mile oval.

Tom Fearn of East Longmeadow, Mass. was second and Tom Butler of Stafford third.

It was the seventh victory in 22 events this year at Stafford for Bennett, of Stafford.

“This race was pretty cool to win,” Bennett said. “So awesome to win a Fall Finale. I can’t thank my guys enough for this whole entire season, all the hard work that they did. I can’t thank all those guys enough. … They gave me the car every week, I just had the fun part of turning the wheel.”

Bennett clinched his first Late Model track championship at the final Friday night event of the season on Sept. 18.
