In announcing Ryan Preece as the new driver of the No. 41 NASCAR Cup Series car for 2023 Wednesday, Stewart-Haas Racing released a promotional video highlighting Preece’s rise from the short tracks of Connecticut to the top of the stock car racing world.

“No bullshit, second chances don’t come often and for most in racing that chance in Cup never comes,” Preece said in the video.

“I don’t take an inch of that for granted. Because the road to this point hasn’t been easy. When opportunity didn’t knock, I knocked the door down.

“When things got tough, I put all my chips on the table. Modifieds, Trucks, Xfinity, Cup, I’m all-in and fully invested because I know what I bring.”

  1. This was the goal wasn’t it? Employment with SHR with the possibility of a full time Cup ride if things broke the right way.
The team name sure has a lot of credibility with fans going wild with glee. Realistically there’s work to do. Custer full time, an abysmal season ending in one spot better the Preece’s old ride mid twenties.
Every Cup full time job is a pressure situation but there will be a ton of pressure on Preece to up the teams game in 2023. Pressure to perform obviously better then no ride and less pressure.
Bet anything Stewart admires Preece’s grit to race anything he can win in most times with dirty hands and scuffed knees. Something he’s built his career on.
