  1. So much for the “robust” tour season with full fields and great championships battles we were drooling over at the start of the season. I’m not in the know, so I ask. Is it really the change to American racer tires thats the issue? Should be level playing field for all teams, no? Is something else afoot?

    • Bobf,
From what I’ve been told, the issue with the tire is not so much learning the new tire, the issue is that the tires have apparently had some pretty dramatic inconsistency issues. A pretty significant percentage of the tires are just not feasible to race on because they’re that far different from the others or coming apart. Get the bad tire on in race conditions, especially at an event with no change tire during the race, and your day is essentially done at the green flag. That’s why you’re hearing a lot of drivers, crew chiefs and team owners describe it as playing the lottery. You’re going to the races just hoping you can either not get one of those bad tires or that if you do get it you find it before the race. It’s basically Russian Roulette with tires.

  2. Makes sense shawn, but I thought the tire tests and vetting by nascar this past winter was supposed to have put those issues to bed.
Ooops Nascar? And will Nascar address this?
Another “not a good look”. So Being informed, I now know not to blame teams. Too bad. It looked like it was going to be a stellar season, now this. Thanks for the info and straightening me out on this topic Shawn.
