Nickolas Hovey Gets First SK Modified Victory At New London-Waterford Speedbowl

Get ready to make some edits to the New London-Waterford Speedbowl record books. 

Nick Hovey scored victory in the 35-lap SK Modified feature Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. 

It was the first career victory in the division for the Chaplin driver. 

Anthony Flannery of East Hampton was second and Timmy Jordan of Plainfield third. 

Hovey became the 102nd different SK Modified winner in history at the Speedbowl 

Flannery leads the SK Modified standings after three points. Todd Owen, who finished fourth Saturday, sits seven points behind Flannery in second in the standings. Jordan is third, 16 points off the lead, and Hovey fourth, 18 points behind.

Kevin Cormier of Agawam, Mass. topped the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature at the Speedbowl. Brett Gonyaw of Vernon was second and Robert Bloxsom III of Stratford was third. 

Greg Moran Jr. of Preston topped the field in the 25-lap Street Stock feature. 

Chad Baxter of Pascoag, R.I. was second and Jon Porter of East Lyme third.

    The Waterford Speedbowl is the typical Waterford Speedbowl the SK light feature was a joke the guy calling the shots there should be ashamed of himself. They handed the kid in the 44 the win who didn’t earn it an took it away from 87 management runs that place like a total circus that was a total disgrace
