Glen Reen Seeking First SK Modified Victory In Seven Years In CBYD Senator’s Cup On Friday At Stafford

 The 2026 season at Stafford Speedway has meant a return to full-time SK Modified® racing since 2019 for Wilbraham, MA native Glen Reen.  As SK Modified® teams prepare for this Friday night’s CBYD Senators’ Cup event, the second event of the Sign Pro Triple Crown Challenge, Reen is looking to take Dan Avery’s #10a Avery Construction Corp. car to NAPA Victory Lane for his first SK Modified® feature win since the 2019 season.  Reen had a season best third place in the first leg of the Sign Pro Triple Crown earlier this season.

“Any extended distances, I thrive on that, I love those races,” said Reen.  “I’m excited to get back behind the wheel of the #10a car.  The whole team is coming together this year.  We’ve made a lot of changes with unfortunately losing some people out of the team but we’ve also gained some people back in the team and we’re working on teaching all the new people our old routines.  We’ve had some growing pains but everyone is on the same page and we’re starting to jive together and show what we’ve got.”

Reen’s last SK Modified® victory was 7 years ago during the 2019 season, but his most recent trip to NAPA Victory Lane at Stafford came in 2023 when he won an Open Modified feature event that was also sponsored by Call Before You Dig.

“Since my last win was in a CBYD sponsored race, maybe I can win another CBYD race,” said Reen.  “It would feel really good.  2019 was my last win in the SK’s and my last win was the CBYD open race in 2023.  To be able to win with the lineups that the SK Modified® division is putting out there right now would be a really good feeling for us and our sponsors New Wave Bath, Avery Construction, R.A.D. Auto Machine, and PJ Ladola & Sons Electrical Contractors.”

Although Reen and the #10 team have yet to win a race in 2026, they are currently fifth in the SK Modified® standings, 34 points or 17 positions on the track behind Keith Rocco in the lead.  Normally sitting fifth in the standings as a racing season reaches its midway point would be a scenario that many drivers would be happy with.  While Reen is happy to be sitting fifth in the standings, he doesn’t feel as though that position is truly representative of how he has been running this season.

“Honestly I don’t think we’ve really been that good so far this season,” said Reen.  “We’ve had two good runs and we’ve finished 13^th, 11^th, 10^th, and 9^th a couple of times so we really haven’t done anything good yet and I don’t feel like we deserve to be in 5^th place in the standings right now.  It’s been frustrating and we have a lot of work to do, but I think we’re definitely closing in on it.  I feel like there’s a lot of untapped potential left in the car.”

Despite his feelings about his performance this season, Reen acknowledges that the CBYD Senator’s Cup could serve as a great spot for him to capture his first SK feature victory in 7 years.

“If everything goes right for us it could be our first win,” said Reen.  “I think we’ll have a good piece for the race, it’s just a matter of if things will go our way or not.  I think the 10 extra laps will play right into my hands, it’s just a matter of if we can get through everything and be there for the end of the race.  In order to win a race, you really have to have everything fall directly in line with your night.  It all goes back to how close everyone is in the SK Modified® division.  If you miss it just a little bit you’re finishing 10^th rather than back in the day if you missed it just a little bit you could still be on the podium.”

Reen and the SK Modified® division take to the track this Friday, July 24th for the Call Before You Dig Senator’s Cup.  Stafford’s Late Model, SK Light, Limited Late Model, and Street Stock teams will join the SK’s in feature action.  Tickets for this Friday are available now on Stafford’s website and fans can save $5 by purchasing tickets in advance.
