Proceeds From North-South Shootout To Benefit Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

The management team from Caraway Speedway announced Thursday a portion of the the proceeds from the Colors Edge John Blewett III North-South Shootout will be donated to the American Red Cross in support of relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Caraway Speedway promoters Darren and Renee Hackett announced they will use the North-South Shootout to help in the recovery of Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern states after Hurricane Sandy produced billions of dollars in damages earlier this week.

They also announced that drivers will collect donations during the North-South Shootout autograph session at Caraway.

The North-South Shootout takes place Nov. 8-10 at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, N.C.

“A number of our teams, drivers, fans and officials have been affected by Sandy in one way or another,” Renee Hackett said. “When people are trying to get their lives back to some semblance of normalcy in the wake of an event like the hurricane, we know that every little bit helps.”

Seven divisions will compete in feature events at Caraway on Nov. 10, highlighted by a 125-lap Modified Tour Type event. There will also be a 125-lap Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model event, a 50-lap SK Modified feature and a 40-lap SK Light Modified feature.
