It’s a friendly competition this year between Evans and his seven year old son P.J., who competes in the Tiger B division of the Wild Thing Karts Series events on Monday evenings at Stafford.
R.J. Evans already has two victories this year.
“He’s been bragging all about it,” Phil Evans said “Seven years old, I’m like ‘Oh man.’
Phil Evans got his first victory in the DARE Stock division at Stafford on July 10. Friday he rolled to his second victory of the season in the 15-lap feature for the division.
Dan Dembek of Hampden, Mass. was second and Frank L’Etoile Jr. of Wethersfield third.
Phil Evans, a former longtime regular at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl, said competing part-time in the DARE Stock division at Stafford is plenty enough to keep him satisfied in racing currently.
“I’m kind of into the Monday night karts with my son now,” Phil Evans said. “I really want to concentrate on that. … I’m having a lot of fun with him. I want to slow down a little bit and have fun with him. I’m having fun.”
