Pit Box: Gearing Up For Big Weekend At New Hampshire Motor Speedway

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East hits the track Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where current championship leader William Byron hopes to extend the margin over NASCAR Next classmates Austin Hill and Kyle Benjamin. Anthony Kumpen, the 2014 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series champion, will make his second K&N Pro Series East start of the season, and 16-year-old Spencer Davis, a regular on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, will make his K&N Pro Series debut at the “Magic Mile.”

• Two series champions – 2014 titlist Doug Coby and 2013 champion Ryan Preece – are tied atop the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour standings with two wins apiece, with veteran Woody Pitkat just two points behind as New Hampshire hosts a double dose of ground-pounding Modified action. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regular Ryan Newman is slated to defend last year’s victory in the annual Whelen Modified All-Star Shootout on Friday, followed by Saturday’s seventh event on the 2015 Tour, the Andy Blacksmith 100.
