STAFFORD – The theme of the season seems to be streaking for Stafford Motor Speedway Late Model driver Tom Fearn.
On June 12 Fearn picked up his third consecutive victory at the track. That streak was snapped on June 19 when Michael Scorzelli won. But Fearn got back to victory lane last week.
And Friday the East Longmeadow, Mass. was back to streaking.
Fearn won for the second consecutive week and for the fifth time in the last six events in the 30-lap Late Model feature Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.
“I’ve got the greatest crew there is here I think,” Fearn said “We get this car right every week when we get here. Four tires and we’re off to the front. I can’t thank them enough.”
Josh Wood of Palmer, Mass. was second and Michael Bennett of Stafford third.
On lap 16 Bennett got under Wood in a battle for the lead and a lap later Bennett was in the front after a move into turn one.
But Fearn followed right on Bennett’s bumper to second and two laps later Fearn used a turn two move low to get by Bennett and take the lead for good.
“They said on lap 10 that we still had a long way to go so I just bided my time there and waited,” Fearn said. “[Bennett] made a move on [Wood] there and he got a little loose and I was able to get by him.”
