A win at Bristol Motor Speedway is an achievement Ted Christopher is desperate to add his long and storied resume in motorsports.

And next week he will head to Bristol, Tenn. riding the wheels of the team that has won the last two NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events at the track.

RaceDayCT has learned that Christopher, of Plainville, will fill the seat normally occupied by Keith Rocco with Our Motorsports No. 22 car for the Bush’s Beans 150 Aug. 19 at Bristol Motor Speedway and he will also drive for Our Motorsports Wednesday in the Budweiser 150 at Thompson Speedway.

Rocco is out of the ride currently because of a broken right hand he sustained at Thompson Speedway during an SK Modified event on July 29. Our Motorsports withdrew Rocco from the Whelen Modified Tour Call Before You Dig 150 Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Christopher normally shares ownership responsibilities on the Whelen Modified Tour in the No. 13 car with team owner Bob Katon. It’s unclear where things currently lie with that relationship, or where the path leads with the opportunity with Our Motorsports. It had been expected that Rocco would return to the No. 22 ride.

“It’s more of a financial thing that anything else,” Christopher said. “That and I’ve got so much more other [stuff] going on with my business so it’s very hard for me. If it’s only two races and I can’t do any more with Bob than it will be what it is. Right now it’s like for me, day by day stuff and right now I’m racing Wednesday at Thompson and next Wednesday at Bristol for Chris Our.”

Our Motorsports won the Bristol Whelen Modified Tour event in 2013 with seven-time series champion Mike Stefanik driving. Last year Tommy Barrett Jr. got his first and only Whelen Modified Tour victory at Bristol with the team. Rocco replaced Barrett in the Our Motorsports ride after the first race of this season after Barrett was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Willimantic on April 17.

Christopher driving for Our Motorsports marks a reunion for he and Brad Lafontaine, the crew chief on the No. 22 car. Lafontaine was the crew chief for Christopher when he won the Whelen Modified Tour championship in 2008 driving for team owner Ed Whelan.

“Ted was a great fit for our team for these two races,” team owner Chris Our said in a release. “His racing resume speaks for itself. Having worked with Brad before is an added plus. We’re looking forward to getting back on track Wednesday and then heading back to Bristol to defend our win from last year.”

  4. Chris DeBaise says

Where are the guys who in an earlier thread about Thompson sk’s that said TC “can’t get those type of rides anymore”?

  5. I would like to see Talman or Glen Reen in the 13 see what they can do with a team that has a decent amount of money but in their racecar.

  6. wmass_01013 says

it was the 46 renumbered to 13 for Christopher Bob Katon owned

  7. Grey Matter says

This isn’t a ride, at least not permanent. Ted is a fill in for Keith… nothing more and you know it Chris.

  8. Say what u want grey matter. I’ll be heading to Thompson now. N may look into Bristol. My bet is the winless streak ends shortly. Brad n Ted don’t always see eye to eye But they know what each other brings to the table. Wins n s championship. Fill that in…..

  9. Win and win or crash and crash. Put him in it full time next year championship….. If he has the car tc will still out drive any one in front of him

  10. Wishes do come true.
    Thank you Mr. Our

  11. If you didnt have a ride for Bristol and most likely New Hampshire with your regular car owner you too would take an opportunity if one arose. If the 22 didn’t open up he would hav went to the 79

  12. Youhavenoidea says

That’s a big negative on Tc going with the 79 his brother did and nothing but trouble and dumb breaks Tc def would not have gone there, as for the katon deal who knows what’s gonna happen

  13. LM not sure we’re you received your info but the 13 was not planning on missing any races.

  14. Never said the 13 was going to miss it said Teddy wasn’t going to be driving it at Bristol

  15. Youhavenoidea says

Lm again wrong info he would have brought the 13 there but the 22 makes it so much easier and also it’s a great ride u can’t go wrong with it and he will do great in it
