Woody Pitkat Leads The Way In Whelen Modified Tour Bud 150 Practice At Thompson Speedway

THOMPSON – Since he started driving for Buzz Chew racing to the start the 2014 season it has seemed the Woody Pitkat has grown ever closer to getting a Whelen Modified Tour victory at Thompson Speedway.

Wednesday at Thompson the Stafford driver started off the day right in chasing that accomplishment.

Pitkat led the way in practice Wednesday for tonight’s Budweiser 150 at Thompson Speedway.

Pitkat, who comes into the event in second place in the standings, four points behind Ryan Preece, put up a fast lap of 18.795 seconds (119.713 mph) around the .625-mile oval.

Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield was second during the one-hour practice session with a lap of 18.796 seconds (119.706 mph).

Donny Lia of Jericho, N.Y. was third fastest at 18.820 seconds (119.554 mph).

Bobby Santos of Franklin, Mass was fourth (18.836 seconds, 119.452 mph) and reigning series champion Doug Coby of Milford fifth (18.849 seconds, 119.370 mph).

Coby has won the first two series events at Thompson this season.

Preece, of Berlin, was sixth fastest (18.861 seconds, 119.294 mph). Ted Christopher, making his first start for Our Motorsports, was ninth during practice (18.915 seconds, 118.953 mph).
