TQ Midgets Added To NAPA Auto Parts Fall Final Weekend At Stafford Motor Speedway

(Press Release from Stafford Motor Speedway)

TQ Midget StaffordThe American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association (ATQMRA) will make their inaugural appearance at Stafford Speedway during the 2016 NAPA Auto Parts Fall Final on the weekend of October 1-2, in a $1,000 to win 30-lap feature on the Stafford mini-mile.

Cars will utilize Len Sammons Production Indoor Race rules, including racing without wings and motor rules.

“We’re excited to bring a new kind of racing to Stafford to close out our 2016 race season,” explained Stafford GM/COO Mark Arute.

“The TQ midgets have been putting on great shows the last few years in the indoor racing series and since our mini-mile is right around the same size as most of the indoor venues, we thought it would be a great addition to our NAPA Fall Final weekend. The mini-mile will be seeing some great action throughout 2016 with the US Legend Cars, the Wild Thing Kart Jr Outlaws and Sr. Champs and now the TQ midgets.”

Recent excitement surrounding Indoor TQ midget racing has attracted some of the best in northeast racing including Ted Christopher, Ryan Preece, Justin Bonsignore, Patrick Emerling, and Jimmy Blewett. Stafford’s all-time winningest driver Christopher, who has multiple wins on the indoor circuit including 2 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City has already committed to the Oct 1st event.

“I’m looking forward to that race,” said Christopher. “I’ve been pretty successful with my TQ with the indoor stuff and I’m excited about the opportunity to race it outdoors. Stafford should be a real good track and I think it’ll be a lot of fun. The Legend Cars seem to get around that track pretty well and we have a little bit softer tire on the TQ cars so it should be some good racing. I hope they get a lot of cars for the show. I’d say the mini-mile is a bit longer on the straightaways than what we normally run indoors and the turns are pretty similar. I have two cars and I’m definitely going to be in one car and we’ll probably have someone else driving the second car. It would be pretty nice to be able to add a TQ win to my list of wins at Stafford.”

The ATQMRA cars will qualify for their 30-lap feature in 8-lap heat races and their feature event will fill out a card that already includes the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, Stafford’s weekly SK Modified®, Late Model, SK Light, Limited Late Model, and DARE Stock divisions plus Legend Cars.

  1. Looks interesting!

  2. What’s the purse? Don’t think may TQs will show up if they pay like the rest of the divisions that run on the mini mile

  3. Steve your a joke, read the effing article. It’s $1,000 to win. So sick of the bashing on this site. Whats the point of bashing this steve? Is it cause you’re a miserable old man who has no idea about how to run a business. Let pay $10K to win every week and then be out of business by the end of next year! Ya that will work! You people SUCK! Just be a race fan and get over yourself! We have 3 great tracks in CT and they all are trying to grow local racing, if you’re a real race fan support them and support local race teams. Otherwise shut up.

  4. Hey racer 17788, take a chill pill!!

  5. Purse doesn’t matter really. Those guys run for a few hundred bucks to win. Probably $25 to start or something. Just a fun little series to add to the weekend. I would love to see Stafford add an ISMA super show or NEMA show to the Fall weekend. Or any Friday night really.

  6. Not bashing anyone, sorry I missed the 1k to win. I just don’t like racers running for peanuts then an outside division shows up and pays more than the weekly divisions, it’s like a slap in the face for your weekly racer who support ur track every week

  7. Right on Mark I really miss thursday thunder.Supers nema and the dynamite pro4 mods.

  8. Steve- stop searching for things to complain about. your first comment (which it seemed like you didnt even read the article first) you say nobody will show if the purse is too low, your second comment you say you dont want to see a high purse. I agree with racer17788. if you have something legit to complain about then thats fine but youre just dropping negativity bombs.

  9. Hey Steve
If you’re so concerned with money… Why don’t you find a company willing to bring money to the table that could offer it to the drivers that race at Safford… Nothing is going to change with Keyboard warriors typing negative things…

  10. Those are some bada$$ race machines . This is great news

  11. Great news. I really miss the TQ’s at the Dunk. Looking forward to seeing them at Stafford.

  12. Why abandon the ATQMRA outdoor rules for this race? Was it done to satisfy a total crybaby?
What is Ted Christopher’s complete outdoor TQ record? Marginally better his record on dirt at best…
