Ron Silk Wins Night One Of Modified Action At New Smyrna Speedway

Former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ron Silk used some late dramatics to secure victory Tuesday in Florida.

Silk, of Norwalk, passed Ryan Preece on lap 46 – according to The Chrome Horn – and held on to win the 50-lap Joe Brady Memorial Tour Type Modified feature at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway.

It marked the first night of Modified events at the annual World Series. Monday night’s previously schedule Modified opener at the event as rained out.

Preece, of Berlin, held on to finish second.

Polesitter J.R. Bertuccio of Centereach, N.Y. finished third in the 15-car field.

  1. Way to go silk any car he gets in he gets the most out of it.He should be in a tour ride.

  2. Something went wrong with the 6 car, it was checking out and then faded. It should have no problem running flat out for 50 laps. In the post race interview, they said that they have to change the motor.

    Silk had a great race. Looking forward to seeing him do well this week.

  3. Silk said he is driving THE 82 DANNY WATTS car at the ICEBREAKER AND SIZZLER AND go from there on the Tour.
