The racing focus for Wolcott’s Joey Mucciacciaro in 2016 will be on chasing a title in the southeastern based CARS Super Late Model tour and finding his way into the field in some of the more prestigious Super Late Model events around the country.

But in putting together his Super Late Model schedule for the year, Mucciacciaro found that there was plenty of downtime.

Downtime that he thinks he could possibly fill behind the wheel of an SK Modified.

To get those SK Modified plans rolling, the 18-year old Mucciacciaro has put together a deal to drive a Keith Rocco owned ride in the 45-lap SK Modified feature Sunday at the NAPA Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway.

“I saw Ronnie Williams run the car at [the Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway on April 10],” Mucciacciaro said. “Over the last couple weeks I’ve been talking to some of my sponsors. I’m doing a lot of Late Model stuff down south and a lot of local people don’t want to do the advertising in North Carolina when their company is up here. So I said ‘Well maybe I can figure out something or find something up here and get some more seat time in.’ Keith had a car available and I texted him last week. We were able to work out a deal and we finalized everything [Monday].”

Mucciacciaro will drive a No. 69 car for the event at Stafford.

“We’re going to give it a shot and see what we have there,” Mucciacciaro said.

Mucciacciaro’s only previous experience in an SK Modified at Stafford is running a Frank Ruocco owned car during a test at the track. He ran a Vin Beedle owned SK Modified in selected events at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl in 2014.

“The beginning of this year we put the sponsors together to go out and try to win this CARS Super Late Model Tour,” Mucciacciaro said. “That’s our main focus. We’re kind of gauging the rest of our season with what we’ve got going on down south and around the 10 races on the CARS Tour. Besides that we’re going to try to chase a lot of these bigger [Super Late Model] races. … That’s really my main focus. But because it’s a very spread out schedule and I have a lot of breaks it would be pretty cool to fill in those voids with Modified racing.”
