RaceDayCT Daily Poll Orange 550

It’s not a big class of young guns, but a tight battle for the 2016 Rookie of the Year Honors is expected this year on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Matt Swanson of Acton, Mass. scored the first battle victory in Sunday’s season opening Icebreaker 150 with a 15th place which topped the class.

Andrew Krause of Holmdel, N.J. scored a 21st place in Whelen Modified Tour debut. Electrical issues plagued Craig Lutz of Miller Place, N.Y. and he finished 26th at Thompson.

But with 16 more events this year the battle is still wide open.

So who will be the 2016 Whelen Modified Tour Rookie of the Year?
