(Press Release from Stafford Speedway)
With the return of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East to Stafford Motor Speedway, the NASCAR 150 has presented a unique opportunity for fans and media alike to view the cars and haulers as well as meet the drivers during the WEEI 105.5FM K&N Fan Experience on Thursday, June 16. The event will be FREE of charge.
There will be a test and tune session from 3pm-6:30pm on Thursday, June 16, the day before the NASCAR 150, as the majority of K&N drivers have not previously raced on the Stafford ½ mile. At the conclusion of the practice session, Stafford Speedway will open its paddock area to allow race fans and media to meet and greet the drivers as well as getting a preview of the cars and team haulers from 6:30pm-8:00pm, much like the atmosphere at the track’s season beginning and season ending NAPA Pit Parties.
“Everyone at Team Stafford is looking forward to the WEEI 105.5FM Fan Experience,” said Lisa Arute, Stafford Speedway VP/CFO. “Typically we’re not able to put on such an event during the course of a season but the K&N Pro Series East event has given us the ability to offer this to our race fans and media members. As soon as the cars come off the track from their practice session, we’ll open the paddock area and fans and media members can interact with the drivers. With drivers like Martin Truex, Jr., Austin Dillon, Joey Logano, and Trevor Bayne all having previously raced here at Stafford in the past, you never know if you might be talking with and getting an autograph from a future Daytona 500 winner or a NASCAR Premier Series champion.”
The cars and stars of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East won’t be the only attraction at Stafford during the WEEI 105.5FM Fan Experience. WEEI 105.5FM will have a live broadcast during the event, and there will be display trucks on hand from the Connecticut Chapter of Make-A-Wish and CT Truck Wars along with other displays and giveaways. It’s sure to be a festival atmosphere that race fans won’t want to miss out on.
Stafford Speedway hosted its first K&N Pro Series East race back in 1987 when the series was known as the Busch North Series and Tommy Houston took the checkered flag. Stafford hosted 28 more K&N Pro Series East races from 1991-2008 and there was a wide variety of race winners with 21 different winners in 29 races. With the majority of the K&N Pro Series East drivers having never seen Stafford before, the odds are pretty high that the NASCAR 150 will produce a 22nd different winner in the 30th race to be contested at Stafford.
