The first two scheduled Friday night events of the season, May 6 and May 13, were both rained out. … The Valenti Modified Racing Series makes the first of three visits to the track this season. The series visits Connecticut tracks five times this year, with one stop scheduled at Thompson Speedway and one at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. … Two-time series champion Chris Pasteryak won the season opening Valenti Modified Racing Series event on April 30 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H., but will skip Friday’s event at Stafford. His father Charlie will drive the family owned car. … Stafford Speedway SK Modified division regulars Rowan Pennink, Ted Christopher and Keith Rocco are expected to participate in the Valenti Modified Racing Series event. … Pennink, the reigning SK Modified champion, opened the season with a victory in the 45-lap feature for the division on April 24. … Tony Membrino Jr. won the opening SK Light Modified feature of the season on April 23 and is expected to race Friday. … Michael Bennett, the 2015 Late Model division champion, won the season opening feature for the division on April 24. Grandstands open: 2 p.m.; Qualifying: 5:30 p.m.; Features: 7:15 p.m.
More: The third event of the season at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. … The American Canadian Tour makes its first stop at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl since 2010. The event is part of a Southern New England Triple Header for the series, which will also include visits to Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway (July 16) and Thompson Speedway (Oct. 15). … Saturday’s event marks the fifth of the 13-event ACT schedule. … Three-time defending SK Modified division champion Keith Rocco opened the season with victory in the division on May 7. Rocco is looking for his sixth SK Modified division championship in the last seven years at the track in 2016. … The SK Modified event on April 14 was suspended with 18-laps remaining because of rain and will be continued Saturday with Diego Monahan leading and Ted Christopher in second.
