STAFFORD – Donny Lia topped the field in practice Friday afternoon in preparation for tonight’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour TSI Harley-Davidson 125 at Stafford Motor Speedway.
Lia, of Jericho, N.Y., toured the half-mile oval with a fast lap of 18.316 seconds (98.275 mph).
Lia is looking for his first his first series victory since winning the Fall Final 150 on Sept. 29, 2013. Of his 17 career series victories, four have come at Stafford for Lia.
Reigning series champion Doug Coby of Milford was second fastest during the practice with a fast lap of 18.353 seconds (98.077 mph). Coby dominated the NAPA Spring Sizzler 200 at Stafford on April 24.
Woody Pitkat of Stafford was third fastest with a fast lap of 18.361 seconds (98.034 mph).
Eric Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y. (18.449 seconds, 97.566 mph) an Jimmy Blewett of Howell, N.J. (18.451 seconds, 97.566 mph) rounded out the top five.
