STAFFORD – Dating back to last October’s NAPA Fall Final 150 at Stafford Motor Speedway, Doug Coby has led 367 of the last 375 laps of NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at the track.

And it looks like he’ll be adding to that dominant run at the front at least from the start Friday at Stafford Speedway.

Coby, of Milford, won the pole in qualifying for Friday’s Whelen Modified Tour Stafford 150 at Stafford Speedway.

Coby, the reigning series champion, has won both Whelen Modified Tour events run at Stafford this year and three consecutive events at the track dating back to the Fall Final.

It was the sixth career pole at Stafford for Coby and his 16th with the series overall.

Coby toured the half-mile oval with a fast lap of 18.229 (98.744 mph).

Bobby Santos III of Franklin, Mass. will start second after putting up a lap of 18.253 seconds (98.614 mph).

Eric Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y. will start third after going 18.325 seconds (98.226 mph) in qualifying.

Chase Dowling of Roxbury and Timmy Solomito of Islip, N.Y. rounded out the top-five respectively in qualifying.
