LOUDON, N.H. – Over his long career in racing, Bob Potter has done plenty to impress crops of drivers in Modified racing in Southern New England that have come after him, not to mention herds of fans.
Potter is a former multi-time champion Modified champion at Stafford Motor Speedway and the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.
And at 75 years old he still is out impressing fans each week of the racing season as the driver of the Two-Seater Modified at Stafford Motor Speedway.
But Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway it was the Modified racing legend who was the one being impressed.
With the help of longtime racing broadcaster and North East Motorsports Museum president Dick Berggren, Potter got the chance to meet some racing royalty Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway prior to the running of the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Overton’s 301.
Potter got a chance to talk racing with Monster Energy Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. Sunday afternoon in the garage at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
“That was definitely a lifetime highlight for me,” Potter said. “That was really cool.”
After the meeting with Earnhardt, Berggren was giving Potter a tour of the garage area.
“This is all just amazing to me,” Potter said. “I just don’t even know what to say. This is a big deal for me.”
