In June 2016 Glen Thomas Jr. made a triumphant return to his home track in celebrating victory at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl with the North East Mini Stock Tour.

Saturday the driver formerly from Groton returned to the track to own his throne.

Thomas was victorious in Saturday’s 50-lap North East Mini Stock Tour feature at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

It was the third series victory of the season for Thomas, who now lives in West Bridgewater, Mass. Thomas also won on Aug. 5 at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway and on April 24 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, N.H.

Keith Rocco of Wallingford held off Kyle James to get his sixth victory of the season in the 35-lap SK Modified feature.

Bryan Narducci of Colchester, making his second career SK Light Modified division start, won the division’s 25-lap feature. Narducci, a regular in the Limited Late Model division at Stafford, made his SK Light Modified debut at the Speedbowl with a third place finish on Aug. 19.

Jordan Hadley of Waterford picked up his third victory of the season in the 25-lap Mini Stock feature. Wayne Burroughs Jr. of Oakdale was second and Charles Canfield of East third.

Chris Meyer of Norwich got his second win of the season in the 25-lap Limited Sportsman feature.

Joey Ternullo of Middletown won the 25-lap Legends feature.

  1. Great run glenny! I believe it’s his 3rd win besides the bowl and seekonk he also won the opener at lee. 3 for 3 awesome job!

  2. How was Jacob Perry’s first outing in a modified?

  3. 450Mike,
    He was 11th.

  4. Who’s gonna be the first to throw a fit about Mueller driving in the sk and skl race. (different cars)

  5. Great run by Kyle James in the SK feature. Overall a good night of racing at the Bowl, and the rain held off until 5 minutes after completion of the last race.

Just to throw this out there for conversation; I am a Keith Rocco fan but watching him win at the bowl pretty much every week against a very limited talent pool of cars is not fun to watch. Just the night before at Stafford he started on the POLE and finished 7th. Start him on the pole at The Bowl and he’d lap the field. Twice. If you were betting an amount of money that mattered to you for a driver at Stafford to start on the pole and at least get a podium finish, your best odds are with names like Keith, Ted, Rowan, Ronnie and Chase, so for him to finish like that shows where the best SK Racing is every week, and that maybe running that rental car program is taking a toll on his performance. Winning at Stafford is the real deal and Keith is the only one on that list that has not. Thoughts?

  7. Great comment Modfan. No one will confuse the top to bottom strength of the Speedbowl SK’s and Stafford’s. You name a few guys that are clearly top guns but really the division is simply brutal from top to bottom. As for Waterford, Rocco is still beating James, Todd Owen and Christopher among others. He’s passing these guys and keeping them behind him more often then not. Sometimes you just have that little bit more skill, equipment and knowledge to eke out a few more wins. An advantage he clearly does not have at Stafford.

  8. The skl race at the bowl was a good race, the sk guys at stafford should take note. No banging or bumping just good side by side hard racing. Congratulations to Brian

  9. With all due respect Steve the Lights at Stafford have be relatively drama free all year. That is not to say the Bowl hasn’t had good racing in the Lights by any means. At Stafford they’re getting great fields of cars with 3 guys in a virtual tie at the top of the points standings sometimes racing side by side to the checker.

  10. Anyone have an SK sitting around collecting dust in there garage . If so then let me use it at Waterford I’ll show you how to beat Rocco..

  11. Larry Gavitt has one.Bring him some money(lots) and maybe you could get your shot.

  12. Hey Rich, it’s the Bowl where anything goes!

Brian , you are the next big thing in mod racing ! Anyone who knows a good wheel can see it! good luck.

  14. Next week he might race all 3. MTS, skl, sk. I don’t have a problem with it. The more modified races a young rookie can get in the better.

  15. I’m impressed with Narducchi and the 176. These two kids are headed to sk’s very soon

  16. studley rivets says

    176 is no kid

  17. Wow this race was fast
    45 mph
