Call Before You Dig Late Model 50 Boasts $1811 To Win At Stafford Speedway

Stafford Speedway and Call Before You Dig, Inc. (CBYD) for the second year in a row will partner to present the Call 811 Before You Dig Late Model 50.  The event scheduled for Friday, August 17th will guarantee $1,811 for the winner and $250 to start.  The 50-lap special event will carry a race purse exceeding $10,000.

“Call Before You Dig is happy to continue our partnership with Stafford Speedway by the sponsoring the CBYD Late Model 50,” said Derek Brown, Vice President of Damage Prevention and Education at CBYD.  “Our partnership with Stafford helps to promote safe digging in Connecticut.  Everyone at CBYD loves the Late Model division and we’re proud to be part of the promotion of the Late Model division at Stafford.”

CBYD’s sponsorship of the August 17th CBYD Late Model 50 continues a partnership with Stafford Speedway that dates back to the 2010 season.  The $1,811 to win the Late Model 50 is another opportunity to promote 811.  The 811 message will have strong presence in the month of August at Stafford.  Along with the Late Model 50, the CBYD 811 Challenge, which starts at the NAPA Spring Sizzler, will culminate on Friday August 10th.

“We are striving to showcase each weekly division throughout the season with an enhanced purse,” explains Mark Arute, Stafford Speedway General Manager.  “Call Before You Dig has again partnered with us to accomplish that for the Late Model 50 with a purse over $10,000.  In addition, the CBYD 811 Points Challenge ends in August so we will definitely get the 811 message out to the Stafford racing community through our social media and race day promotions.”

Call Before You Dig is a state regulated, non-profit organization comprised of all public utilities and municipalities in Connecticut The purpose of CBYD is to function as a statewide, one-call notification system that provides excavators and the general public with the ability to inform multiple owners and operators of underground facilities of proposed excavation, demolition or blasting.  Contractors as well as anyone in the general public can use the E-Ticket system found online at www.cbyd.com to set up a location request for any project that involves digging into the ground.  The CBYD website offers the opportunity to register for E-Tickets for jobs as well as providing resources such as a design survey, education materials about digging into the ground, emergency contacts, and reports and forms.  The CBYD website will be undergoing a facelift to an all new format that will make the site more user friendly.

“We’re going to be launching a new version of our website in early 2018,” said Brown.  “It will be a new design with more user friendly options for contractors and homeowners alike to use the service.”

  1. This is nice for the Late Models. Usually 14 car features and they had 17 cars for this race last year. No doubt there are some top, hard nosed, experienced guys in this division. What you don’t see is many outsiders at all. Stafford guys like Quintiliano and Movlouganes dust off there cars for the event but not many crossovers from other tracks. Is there anything that could be done to make this more open and attractive to boost car counts?
