The smile on Ryan Preece’s face was beaming Saturday afternoon following the NASCAR XFINITY Series Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway

Preece score his second career XFINITY Series victory Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway, and in addition to celebrating the victory, he had 100,000 more reasons to be happy about the win.

“To win here is unreal,” Preece said.

Along with the win, the Berlin driver collected a $100,000 bonus as part of the XFINITY Series Dash For Cash Program.

“[I’ll] probably do something for my parents, do something for my brothers, my wife and my team,” Preece said of the bonus money. … I can’t thank [crew chief] Eric Phillips enough. That guy works his butt off.”

It was Preece’s third XFINITY Series event of the season driving for Joe Gibbs Racing. He is scheduled to run 10 events for the team in 2018. It was Preece’s first opportunity to be part of the NASCAR Dash For Cash XFINITY Series program.

The top four XFINITY Series drivers in last week’s event at Texas Motor Speedway set the field for the Dash For Cash. It put Christopher Bell, Daniel Hemric, Cole Custer and Preece in contention for the bonus, with the top finishing driver of the four collecting the money. Preece was fifth at Texas.

Preece is now eligible to race for the bonus again in Friday’s Toyota Care 250 at Richmond (Va.) Raceway, though he is not scheduled to run the event. Preece’s next scheduled XFINITY Series event for Joe Gibbs Racing is July 6 at Daytona International Speedway.

Preece got his first career XFINITY Series victory last July at Iowa Speedway, running in his second event for Joe Gibbs Racing.

In seven XFINITY Series starts for Joe Gibbs Racing dating back to last July Preece has two victories, six top-five finishes and has not finished worse than ninth.

“I’ve got to thank everybody last year for helping me make this all possible because without last year I wouldn’t be sitting here right now,” Preece said. “I wouldn’t be sitting here in Bristol victory lane in an XFINITY Series car with Joe Gibbs Racing .”

In addition to competing in the 10 events for the Joe Gibbs Racing  XFINITY Series team, Preece is also competing full-time on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour this season and full-time in the SK Modified division at Thompson Speedway.

Preece, the 2013 Whelen Modified Tour champion, finished fourth in the division’s Icebreaker 150 last Sunday at Thompson Speedway.

  1. How awesome is that? Every race he is in contention. That’s hard to do full time never mind a partial schedule. Fun to watch hope he gets a deal for next Friday’s dash At Richmond he deserves it.

  2. knucklesmahoney says

The kids the real deal. How he doesn’t have a full time ride blows my mind.

  3. Cool to see him win again. Not really surprised though. Top talent in the very best equipment money can buy. He should win. He might want to start looking for a house soon, in NC.

  4. Great win. If he’s not in the race next Friday at Richmond it will be a big slap in the face for NASCAR. If fox sports 1 has to explain to people watching that the guy the won last week and is eligible for the 100,000 dash for cash this week and can’t get a ride it looks really bad for the sport. I can’t believe there’s not a sponsor out there that would not want to be talked about or seen on tv for 4 hours straight. The four guys in the dash for cash at Bristol is all they talked about and showed.

  5. Way to go Ryan, congrats on your victory at Bristol one of the toughest tracks there is. You make us northerners proud.

  6. RickyinMass says

anyone proud a couple years ago losing. now so proud. losers. its the car. quick jump on bord the winning train. came in 9 snore win house shop. losers

  7. Franky, Joe Gibbs already has another driver and sponsor who paid a ton of money to sponsor the Richmond race. Preece won’t be there. That’s the business. Get over it. Next week some other young star will be in victory lane. The world won’t end. Preece is on to Stafford.

  8. Preece needs to attract a big sponsor, or a few big sponsors. When he has that sponsorship package, the owners will be courting him. That’s the way it works. Danica lost her sponsorship, look what happened to her. It won’t be much longer… Preece will be doing just fine. This was a great event for him. Preece is a real driver… just drives… no drama. His style is the future of racing. The drama such as wrought by the Busch brothers, the instigation and antagonism of Harvick, has gotten stale. A driver such as Preece is a HUGE breath of fresh air.

  9. What a talent, set up a go fund me I’d donate to see him run again he brings juice to xfinity

  10. Fast Eddie says

Might be a good time for Joe Gibbs racing to have another Xfinity team at Richmond! Probably not possible, but not impossible for a team of their caliber. Sincere congratulations to Ryan Preece and Joe Gibbs Racing! Hey Ryan, go get another one! (As in Xfinity victory!)

  11. RickyinMass says

dareal knows what he’s talking aobut. its the car. plug any good no drama driver in and win. cause drama and replace him and win. jerks don’t sell products.business don’t sponsor jerks. drive the car shut up and sell stuff.

  12. Sponsorship isn’t an issue. Joe Gibbs has sponsors for every race. The team uses multiple drivers. Just how it is. Let’s not forget, Preece had a full time ride. It wasn’t the caliber of Gibbs though. Rarely do you get it both ways. Also, Hemric failed inspection and got tossed out of next week’s Dash for Cash. So there will be two drivers from this week who won’t be in the Dash.

  13. WOW Ricky, what are you, Jeffrey’s twin brother, lol……….

  14. It is simple math Ricky that you don’t understand. Talent + ability + crew + chemistry = winning team……..

  15. No NH Mark, that’s not how it is. Danica had massive sponsorship, and if you read the reports on her demise, she couldn’t get sponsorship anymore. Hence, therefore and in conclusion… she’s out. Make that clear… DANICA couldn’t bring in sponsorship. Read the interviews. She was a novel… sub-par talent. Drivers attract sponsorship. Drivers make appearances, show up in ads, not the team owner. What Joe Gibbs does is run an audition service, to put some new talent out there to see if any sponsors will bite. It’s also good for companies that can only afford part-time sponsorship. It’s also risky in that other owners are seeing this. If Gibbs doesn’t sign Preece, someone else is just waiting.

Yeah, Preece had a full time ride and it sucked. Extremely underfunded, low horsepower. Remember all the Go Fund Me talk to buy/lease horsepower from a big team for Preece? That ride wasn’t the level of sponsorship (aka: caliber) level of Gibbs. The bigger the sponsorship, the bigger the ‘caliber’ of the team and equipment. And that’s the way it is.

Clearly you didn’t graduate from arithmetic first, to dabble in math. Arithmetic is a prerequisite for math. You forgot the 💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰

Because the 💵💰💵💰 makes the summation of the talent, ability, crew, etc. all possible. Without 💵💰💵💰, you can’t attract the talent, ability, crew, etc.

  17. RickyinMass says

might not be as educated as the hump but also not wasting time driving by the perverts track

  18. RickyinMass says

    Talent + ability + crew + chemistry = winning team……..
you left out the car hump. and im dumb

  19. NH MOD CHASER says

You hit the nail on the head darealgoodfella

  20. RickyinMass says

Talent + ability + crew + chemistry = a team with a driver and no money or car. or a school chemistry class.
    =

I’ve made that point in the past and got clubbed like a seal for it. Ryan can win and looks good on camera. A sponsorship will likely follow I’m thinking. Congrats to guy I’ve not been particularly
a fan of. There are a number of Mod guys that could cut it at the upper levels but unfortunately will never get a call. Good luck Ryan going forward.

  22. Crazy, Preece is relatively low-key, doesn’t cause stupid commotions or drama, just goes about his business. No bloviating like way too many empty-headed others. He’s doing this very well. There is a HUGE need for his talent and presence in the Cup series.

Preece lets his driving speak for him. That’s all he needs.

  23. Have not seen me giving any updates in a long while, have you Ricky. I think in my last one I said I am no longer wasting my time. Get your glove, off the bench and in the game. And BTW, the car was a forgone conclusion. Winning teams attract sponsors which bring 💰.

  24. Is it rickyinmass or Ricky with his head up his a–.I also didn’t think much of Danica as a cup driver, and as accurately described by dareal her sponsorship is fleeing.Don’t worry Crazy the ice has almost melted they can’t club anymore this season

  25. RickyinMass says

agree proves woman not good racers.

  26. RickyinMass says

agree art. darel is smart. maybe as smart as shawn. should rite stories for race day.

  27. Me thinks Ricky is pulling our legs.Something is familiar but I can’t quite get a handle yet.it’s still funny though.

  28. art, notice Doug, WeldingWonders, Sybil, and others haven’t been around lately?

  29. Where has Jeffrey been? Looks awful familiar……

  30. I certainly have noticed dareal. The ringing in my ears has disappeared, but while Sybil goes through another personality change this sounds more like jeffery.Unfortunately Sybil I’m afraid will be back more insipid and disagreeable than ever.Enjoy the silence.

  31. RickyinMass says

sibil i hate that guy. wont shut up. stupid comints too. hope he stays gone. maybe darel beat him like a dog and hes chicken to say anything. good. race day should hire darel. great stories.

  32. RickyinMass, what were your previous screen names?

  33. WeldingWonders says

Sorry Ricky to disappoint. What’s the Mass stand for? Mass murder of the written word?

  34. RickyinMass says

insipid sibil. only two lines. stil boring

  35. Gotta agree with you Ricky ,the car had a great deal to do with Saturdays win, plus the crew behind it. But you can’t discount Ryan’s talent, he stayed out of trouble all day and was around equal cars all day

  36. Why can’t everyone feel good that a Modified guy from Connecticut went down south and kicked ass bringing home $100 grand.

  37. why cant I feel good abut mod driverr ryan preece
its because of the nickname crying ryan from all
he whinning he does in the mod tour

  38. Good story. He deserves a nice quality ride for sure. Very humble. Gotta respect that about Ryan.

  39. RickyinMass says

car = 95% and run at front. maybe win sometimes. good driver run more in front and wins more. Preece is really good driver. there are a lot of really good drivers. gotta bring $.

  40. All if this talk illustrates why the sport is dying, 19 year old Kaz Grala from Westboro MA has fulltime Xfinity ride (maybe not Gibbs equipment) and he brings absolutely NO FAN base to the sport. Here you have Ryan, a proven driver with a large following and cannot land a full time Truck or Xfinity ride. The sport is dying and it is self inflicted. Who says a Ryan Preece. Bobby Santos, Eddie Macdonald, Cassius Clark are too old for the sport??? Jeff Burton didn’t get his first cup win until 30!

  41. RickyinMass says

sport diing or monster. bristol empty for x race and monster but dirt stands full and icebreaker stands on burrrrrrrr day good and plenty.

  42. RickyinMass says

good driver with helmit and bag of money vs good driver with helmit. i take driver with bag of money.
