Points Battles Heating Up As Valenti Mod Racing Series Heads To Stafford

It’s that time of year. School bells ringing, five races remain on the Valenti Modified Racing Series schedule.

Labor Day weekend and Stafford Springs Motor Speedway. The point’s battles are shaping up for the fall season run but first things first. The annual ‘Lincoln Tech 80’ happens this Friday, August 31, at Stafford and it looks like the classroom could be full.

Close to 30-cars are expected to compete in the annual event. The roster is filled with top names in modified racing.

Drivers from throughout New England are expected to compete. A point’s battle, as in the last few seasons, has tightened for the championship.

Sammy Rameau, the 16-year old driver from Westminster, MA, has worked his way into second place in the standings and is 18-points behind current leader and reigning champion- Anthony Nocella, of Woburn MA.

The battle for third heading to Stafford finds Grantham, New Hampshire’s Mike Willis Jr. and Bellingham, MA, driver Woody Pitkat, the 2015 series champion, are a point apart.

Richard Savary, rookie Cameron Sontag, Todd Patnode, and rookies Derrick Robbie, and Jacob Perry make up the top ten in points following last weeks event at Monadnock. All have indicated they plan to be at Stafford.

Additionally, Ron Silk, series winner at Loudon, NH, in June, Keith Rocco, recent series winner at Waterford, CT, Les Hinckley, 19-time series winner, Eric Goodale, Max Zachem, Dylan Izzo, and Dave Etheridge are also expected.

Donnie Lashua, Jeff Gallup, Dan Meservey Jr, Johnny Kay, Dave Schneider, and Jeff Malave, have indicated their intention to enter the Stafford event.

Main grandstand and ticket booths open at 5:15 pm with qualifying heats at 6:30 PM.
