Sammy Rameau Tops Valenti Mod Series At Beech Ridge

SCARBOROUGH, Me. – Sixteen year old Sammy Rameau, of Westminster, MA, started ninth in an 18-car field, passed race leader Andy Shaw, of Center Conway, NH, on lap-43, and went on to his second career win in Valenti Modified Racing Series action, at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Scarborough, ME. Saturday night. Sept 8.

Rameau entered the Maine event as the leader in the series point standings for the season championship. Rameau was chased to the finish by reigning series champion Anthony Nocella, who enjoyed the point lead for a good part of the season until a rash of mechanical issues have plagued the Woburn, MA driver.

Nocella, who started 13th, moved into second with 15-laps remaining but Rameau hung on to the top spot, to post the win.

Richard Savary, of Canton, MA, who started 18th, finished third, followed by Westbrook, ME, driver Tony Ricci fourth, and Cameron Sontag, of Sterling, MA.fifth.

Rounding out the top ten were, Woody Pitkat, Shaw, Jacob Perry, T.J. Bleau, and Mike Willis Jr.

The race was slowed on lap 40 and again on 47 for minor incidents. The 75-lap race was completed in 28-minutes–47 seconds.

Heat winners were Ricci and Pitkat.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series moves on to Race # 12 on the 14-race schedule. New London-Waterford Speedbowl, Waterford, CT, will host the Saturday, September 15, event.
