Riverhead Raceway Announces Safety Tech Inspection And Practice Day Info

(Press Release from Riverhead Raceway)

With the 69th season of stock car racing at Riverhead Raceway rapidly approaching activity at the popular quarter mile oval has been picking up leading up to opening weekend Saturday May 4th and Sunday May 5th.

Today GM John Ellwood released information concerning the two safety tech inspection days on April 6th & April 13th as well for the two practice days Saturday April 20th & April 27th.

In making the announcement John Ellwood disclosed that Randy Murray and his Riverhead Raceway tech staff will be available from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm on both April 6th & April 13th for safety tech inspection.

Competitors are reminded that any race car that plans on taking part in the two practice days must first go through and pass safety tech inspection and have a sticker indicating they have done so.

The inspection days are open to all divisions that race at the track whether it is with the weekly NASCAR Whelen All American Series or Enduro series. If weather conditions permit engine tech will also take place during both safety tech inspection days. There will be a $20 per car inspection fee for Murray and his hard working inspection staff.

The schedule for the practice days at the track Saturday April 20th & 27th Ellwood noted the pit windows would open at 9:00 am with cars entering the pits shortly thereafter. For teams unable to attend the previously scheduled safety tech inspection days the inspection area will also be opening at 9:00 am.

On track activity will commence at 12 noon with the NASCAR Whelen All American Series and INEX Legend Race Cars taking to the track for several rounds of practice. Later in the afternoon the Enduro teams will take over the track to shake their machines down in preparation for the 34th season of Enduro racing at Riverhead Raceway.

As is tradition free grandstand admission will be available for race fans on the two practice days while those entering the pits will find admission $36 with a NASCAR/INEX License, $56 for those without a license.

Race teams will find a freshly re-paved pit area greeting them at the track in 2019 courtesy track owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz. Also under repair for the 2019 race season is the third and fourth turn are of the track as management hopes to eliminate the dip in the center of the corner while making repairs to the pavement.
