Riverhead Raceway Open Practices Open To Public For Free April 20 And April 27

A sneak preview to a very ambitious 2019 race season at Riverhead Raceway will be available to Long Island race fans with two free to the public practice days at the historic quarter mile oval Saturday afternoon April 20th and April 27th.

The two test & tune sessions lead up to the opening weekend that will see the 2019 NASCAR Whelen All American Series opener set for Saturday evening May 4th while the 34th season of Enduro racing kicks off the very next afternoon Sunday May 5th.

Track owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz will swing the general admission gates to the track open for the free grandstand seating for fans to enjoy the NASCAR and INEX stock cars practice rounds starting at 12 noon. Rotating practice for the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Crate Modifieds, Figure Eights, Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks and INEX Legend Race Cars will run into the afternoon.

The Street Stocks and Mini Stocks practice sessions will be included in the NASCAR warm-up cycle allowing teams in the nine classes ample time to make adjustments to their cars between rounds.

Once the NASCAR practice is deemed complete by track officials the track will be turned over to Enduro competitors in the Truck, 8-Cylinder and 4/6-Cylinder Gut & Go classes as they ready for their opener May 5th.

The pit window will open at 9:00 am on April 20th and April 27th with the technical inspection area opening as the haulers enter the pit area. Teams that did not go through and pass safety tech prior to the two practice days must first go through that process before being permitted on track for warm-ups. On track activity will commence at 12 noon.

Among the capital improvements races teams and fans alike will immediately notice during the practice days are a freshly paved pit area along with track repairs in the third and fourth turn of the race track. The on track improvement focused on the noticeable “dip” in the center of the turn. Crews milled the asphalt down did major patchwork and re-paved the repaired area.

Saturday May 4th seven divisions will go to post in the 2019 NASCAR Whelen All American Series lid lifter headlined by a 50-lap NASCAR Modified main event. Sunday May 5th five divisions of racing will usher in the news season of Enduro racing led by the Street Stocks and Mini Stocks.
