Granite State Pro Stock Series Heading To Beech Ridge For First Time In 2020

(Press Release from Granite State Pro Stock Series)

For the first time ever, The Granite State Pro Stock Series will contest an event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. The track has held Pro Stock races both weekly and as host to touring series since the track was paved in 1986.

The series will make its debut at the Scarborough ME oval on Friday night, July 24. The race will be 100 laps of green flag racing and qualifying will include the ultra-popular Crazy Horse Racing fast time challenge as well as heat races and a consi if needed.

This race has been several years in the making and all parties involved are extremely excited to finally have it come together. “Andy and I have discussed an event multiple times over the last few years”, stated series President Mike Parks. “As our rules packages have gotten more similar we felt that this was the right time to collaborate.” Parks then added, “we have been trying to get the series back to the state of Maine and with the support of Beech Ridge we have achieved that goal.”

The commonality of rules between the series and the track will allow the weekly regulars at the track to compete with the traveling stars of the GSPSS. In 2019 the track began mandating the same American Racer tire for their weekly competitors which will help keep the cost for the racers in check.

“The GSPSS is a good fit for our teams,” stated track owner Andy Cusack after finalizing the deal with Parks. “Our pro series rules package works with the series and we look forward to watching our regulars and the series regulars race together.” Cusack went on to say, “Beech Ridge teams have always done well with their home track advantage which should make for some great racing.”

Parks then added, “Beech Ridge has a very solid field of Pro Series cars and the GSPSS teams will have to be on their game. We are looking forward to this event and putting on an exciting show for all the fans.”

2019 series champion Joey Doiron is one competitor who looks forward to this event. Beech Ridge is just 40 miles from his shop and is a track he grew up going to. “This event will be really good for the series and it will be good exposure in the state of ME,” said the two time PASS winner at the facility. “I don’t believe the fans from ME are aware of the great strides the series has made in the last two years and how far it has come. It will be good for them to see what Granite State has to offer.”

Also excited for this event is 2019 Beech Ridge track champion Dave Farrington. “I’ve always been an advocate for The GSPSS to run at Beech Ridge. Hopefully we will even see some of the series regulars coming up for a weekly show or two to test.” The former series winner went on to say, “This is certainly an event we will have circled on our calendar. I especially look forward to the qualifying procedure so we don’t have to start in the back like we do with our weekly handicap.”

The complete schedule is set to be released sometime in December but race fans can look forward to an exciting line up of events. The series will open at the Claremont Motorsports park Saturday April 25 and fans can mark Friday July 24 as a must see event at Beech Ridge.
