Maine Money: Modified Racing Series Sets Triple Crown Series At Beech Ridge For 2020

Maine will be the place to be for Modified drivers to chase some extra cash in 2020 with the Modified Racing Series.

The management of the Modified Racing Series is working to complete their 2020 schedule. Friday series founder and operator Jack Bateman confirmed a big new addition to that schedule for next season.

Bateman revealed exclusively to RaceDayCT that the Modified Racing Series will host a Triple Crown Series in 2020 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Me.

The series will host events at the one-third mile track on May 30, June 27 and Aug. 1.

The Triple Crown points fund for the three events will pay a bonus of $2,000 to the winner, $1,500 for second and $1,000 to third place.

“We’re very very grateful to [Beech Ridge Motor Speedway owner Andy Cusack] for inviting us to do this,” Bateman. “He’s a really good guy.”

Bateman said he hopes to announce a tentative 2020 schedule for the Modified Racing Series at the series banquet on Nov. 24 at Thompson Speedway.

Also on Friday, Bateman confirmed that the series is searching for a new title sponsor and will no longer be referred to as the Valenti Modified Racing Series.

“We had 10 successful years with Valenti and we appreciate everything that they did for us,” Bateman said. “He has decided to step away from us. He has other interests. We’re parting certainly on really good terms. And of course we’re out there looking for a title sponsor.”

  1. That is awesome. Beech Ridge had the mods as there top class until 30 years ago when mod drivers were dying. The last few years the MRS drivers have put on some pretty good shows as most drivers are starting to figure out a flat track set up. This will fill the loss of Pass at the ridge.

  2. This should be a pretty cool series. I’ve only been able to get there a few times, but the modifieds put on a good race there of the ones I saw, most recently this year’s event. Hoping the extra $$ gets the car counts into the mid 20’s.

  3. Jack isn’t going down without a fight, and with today’s TTOMs news there will be alot of impacts felt. Definitely going to be interesting.

  4. Beech Ridge is a fun track. If the car numbers are there it could be interesting. I enjoy it up there. Im not an MRS guy so the entry list will have to blow me away. Wait and see I suppose.

I miss the old WMT races there.

  5. Okay, this is indeed interesting. Beech Ridge is clearly the replacement for Stafford. Hopefully there’s enough incentive for many teams to make the trip.
