75th ANNIVERSARY TO INCLUDE MIX OF MID-WEEK SPECTACULARS, WEEKLY RACING SLATE & SPECIAL EVENTS
The 75th anniversary season of racing at Seekonk Speedway is going to be one to remember. The return of a staple Wednesday night show is joined by two new mid-week events, Fast Friday and NASCAR Saturday weekly racing, and multiple special events that have been part of Seekonk’s schedule for decades, helping to fill a packed season for 2020.
Seekonk’s goal while celebrating this historic landmark in Massachusetts short-track racing is to trace back to racing roots created throughout the last seven decades – bringing in multiple staple touring series divisions, like Modifieds, Supermodifieds, and fendered Late Models – to join a stable base of weekly racing, including the Pro Stocks, a division started in 1978, and seven other weekly classes. As part of NASCAR Saturday, fans will be treated to extra-distance races worth extra cash, while also having the opportunity to visit the track with mid-week events that are sure to draw cars from across the country, and Canada.
Outside of Open Wheel Wednesday (July 1 — Tri Track Open Modified Series, NEMA Lite Dave Steele Memorial & 350 Supers), two other events, spread between July and August, will help headline the schedule. Wednesday, July 29, will be the innagural Bay State Classic, as the Pro All Star Series returns to Seekonk for a 150-lap feature, while the American Canadian Tour also joins the show for a 100-lap race – bringing some of New England’s top fender talent to Seekonk in the middle of the summer. On Wednesday, August 12, the ISMA Supermodifieds headline a night for 100 laps, while the Boston Louie Seymour Classic for the NEMA Lites and NEMA Midgets joins the show.
Outside of these marquee events, there will be 16 Fast Friday nights, 17 NASCAR Saturday nights and five Thrill Shows throughout the season, which begins in May, and cumulates in October. The 2020 season will also include extra distance events for each of the NASCAR and Fast Friday divisions, including the return of the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series, and the debut of a Diamond Anniversary slate of events.

The NASCAR program begins on Sunday, May 3, with the Pro Stocks, Everett’s Auto Parts Late Models, Helger’s Southcoast Power Equipment Sportsman and Sport Trucks running five extra laps, and the Troy City Tactical Spectator Drags opening their own 10-event schedule.
The Fast Friday schedule opens on Friday, May 29, with the Nick’s Pit Stop Legends, Helger’s Southcoast Power Equipment Pure Stocks, Sport 4 and Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandit, and Outlaw divisions set for action. They will compete throughout the summer, with their championship battles concluding on September 18.
NASCAR Saturday championship battles will take on a new look for 2020. The Pro Stock championship will end on Saturday, September 19, while the Late Models, Sportsman and Sport Trucks will see their title holder crowned as part of the D.A.V. Fall Classic on September 26.
The Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series returns for three special events in each division on both nights. This is a three-race series that includes extra laps, extra cash and its own championship points bracket-style battle. For 2020, the bracket championship format will move to Friday night as well. All Phil’s champions will be crowned during Phil’s Propane weekend, August 21 & 22.

New for 2020, Seekonk will also celebrate their 75th anniversary season with Diamond Anniversary races in all Saturday night divisions, adding extra purse money, and extra laps, for all classes. These races will be proudly presented by Everett’s Auto Parts in the Pro Stock and Late Models, and Helger’s Southcoast Power Equipment in the Sportsman and Sport Trucks.
Pro Stocks and Late Models will have three events, while the Sportsman and Sport Trucks will have one each, all slated for 50 laps. Although the Pro Stocks and Late Models are no strangers to this distance, it will be a trek into unknown waters for drivers in the Sportsman and Trucks, which will surely provide storylines for fans to follow.
Pro Stock: 50 laps, $1750 to win, June 27, July 25 & August 15
Late Model: 50 laps, $1000 to win, June 20, July 18, August 15
Sportsman: 50 laps, $600 to win, August 8
Sport Trucks: 50 laps, $550 to win, July 18
The Power 5 races also return for Saturday night, with five extra laps planned for each division on select nights.
Modified events include the return of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour for a 175-lap race on June 6, helping to celebrate their 36th season of racing, along with the two annual Tri Track Open Modified Series shows: Wednesday, July 1, as part of Open Wheel Wednesday, and Saturday, October 24, with the third annual Haunted Hundred. The Haunted Hundred will wrap the overall season, with the Pro All Star Series and Late Models also scheduled.
Fans will have the opportunity to watch thrills and spills during Thrill Shows at the third-mile five times, starting with the annual Memorial Day event on Saturday, May 23. The Independence Day event hits the nation’s birthday next year, on Saturday, July 4, while August 1 marks the return of Monster Trucks. The season wraps with the Labor Day show on September 5, and the October 12 finale.
The weekly divisions season ends on September 26, with the Granite State Pro Stock Series returning for the second straight year to headline the DAV Fall Classic with a 100-lap main. The Late Models, Sportsman and Sport Trucks will join them. Although Pro Stock points will end the weekly before, track regulars will join the touring class like they did in 2019.
Prior to the beginning of the season, teams will have three opportunities to practice leading into opening day: April 18, April 25, and May 2. The season will also include Wednesday night practice sessions throughout the summer, with the exact schedule to be announced.
