We should be happy and not take for granted that we have 3 unique race tracks to choose from. Not to mention in such a small state. All 3 are pretty awesome in their own ways. Just think. Concord and Myrtle Beach have or are being bulldozed in the “heart” of race country.

  2. Hear, hear. Well said 2020!!

  3. wmass01013 says

I SO AGREE with 2020, all 3 are so unique but with great action, Waterford tight and racy with a pretty big fan base, Thompson HIGH bank speedway with Great action and the Mother STAFFORD clean and with an historical myth of drivers alll within an hours drive!!!!!!

  4. Just 3?

  5. Kenneth F Latham says

2020 so right. I remember when LI had 3 ovals. We had great racing down here no matter what track you went to. Freeport was not NASCAR, but had stellar fields because they were paying $1200.00 to win in 1978-1980. Deep car counts and 7500+ in the stands every Saturday. Islip had 6000+ and a deep field also on Saturday’s

  6. Anyone know of any drivers who’ve won the tri fecta back in the days of Stafford Waterford Thompson back 2 back 2 back nights? You know… when teams and fans could afford to do two or three races in a week.

  7. Why are y’all so prejudiced against Lime Rock?

  8. Fast Eddie says

2020 & wmass01013, definitely agree! Being in a state with only one racetrack of any kind, I am fortunate to be reasonably close to all the Connecticut tracks and most of the NH tracks as well

  9. Stuart A Fearn says

Rocco won Thompson on Thursday night, Stafford on Friday night, then decided he had to go for the tri-fecta so went to Waterford and won there on Saturday night. Just last year, September 2020. Not too distant past

  10. “Why are y’all so prejudiced against Lime Rock?”

It is, after all, a short track in road course terms… 😉

  11. Barry gets it.

  12. 🌈🦄2020 says

Road courses suck. Besides that this is about the 3 Connecticut oval tracks.

  13. 🌈🦄2020,
    Please Google the word sarcasm.

  14. Shawn, I cracked up, completely lost it when you made the comment that it was like talking with four year olds on these forums. No truer words were ever written. And four year olds get it, they have the ability to learn.

  15. Sarcasm:
-harsh or bitter derision or irony.
-a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark:

I’m confused as well. Why is sarcasm warranted with something so straight forward and devoid of irony, conflicting messaging or conflict?
“What Is Your Favorite Short Track In Connecticut”
Limerock is a 1.5 mile road course. Would the mention of the Thompson road course or kart tracks be more reason for biting satire.
Seems to me that shows very little respect for truly creative satire.
    Where’s the beef?

  16. 🌈🦄2020 says

I apologise to you and Dafella. I was way out of line. I googled sarcasm and now I fully understand. I am ashamed.

  17. “Limerock is a 1.5 mile road course”

We’re kidding around about it because typical road courses that run National events in the US are 2.5-3.5+ miles, some even longer. LeMans is 8.5 miles long, a full lap at Nuremburg is12.9 miles.

LRP is frequently described as a bullring by world-famous drivers, as there can be 50-60 cars on track in four distinct classes during a national event.

I think we all know the poll is about ovals… =8^0

  18. LRP is a “bullring” for the Modifieds. I was watching ‘sports cars’ such as BMW, Porsche, Audi, etc. at LRP, and they were fun in their own way. Then the Modifeds took to the track and they looked like giants with the comparatively w-i-d-e wheelbase. Not that often a Modified is the big car at the event. The track got very narrow with the Mods on it.

I’ve been to Watkins Glen, and that’s a pretty lengthy track.

So who wants to list all the long tracks in CT? 😝🤣😝🤣

Doug? 🌈🦄2020? Give it a shot.

And 🌈🦄2020, you’re an oval snob supremacist.

  19. Fast Eddie says

Hey Dareal, do long lost tracks count? If so I’d like to nominate Connecticut International Raceway, formerly Connecticut Dragway. It was technically a 1/4 mile but including the shutdown area was 4 lanes wide and more than 1/2 mile “long”. BA-DUM-BUM!!

  20. The Atomic Punk says

Thompson is the Best racing surface in Conn. Everyone loves Stafford because of management. At the Big T you can go side by side lap after lap after lap after lap. you Cant at Stafford.

  21. Well, y’all are really dissing Little T.

    Such a cutie!!!!

  22. The Atomic Punk says

Lots of entitlement at the Little T. Watch some of the Parents. OMG.

  23. 🌈🦄2020 says

Because you can’t go side by side lap after lap after lap at Waterford, right punk? 🤣🤣🤣. If Thompson has the “best surface” how come ownership says the surface needs to be replaced?

  24. Plenty of entitlement with kids activities, all over the place.

When I was coaching little kids, and I was the Director of the division, I had a mother ask me to rearrange the schedule of the entire division around her equestrian riding lessons. I didn’t say anything, but the look I gave her must have been enough, because she answered her own question with, “That’s probably not a good idea.”

Surprisingly, many kids are embarrassed with the behavior of their parents.

  25. Merriam Webster
    Entitlement
“1a: the state or condition of being entitled : RIGHT
b: a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract
2: belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges
3: a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group
also : funds supporting or distributed by such a program”

If we’re being honest here is it not a fact that pretty much every demographic in the US now feels they are “entitled” to something. Entitled to our Constitutional rights. Entitled to only favorable reporting in the media including in RaceDayCt. Entitled to good government even if we don’t contribute personally. Entitled to low taxes and/or abundant social benefits. Entitled to own any guns we care to.. Entitled to tell other people how to act and dress. Entitled to push our own cultural norms on other races and sexes. Entitled to tell others what races to go to and what qualifies as being a real fan. Entitled to critique free content on RaceDayCt and tell what should be reported on without any financial contribution. Entitled to say who is and who is not a good driver without any experience to gauge it by. Entitled to low ticket prices at races. Entitled to a living wage. Entitled to say who is and who is not a good or bad person without even knowing them. Entitled to health care benefits. Entitled to not wear a mask, not social distance and pack ourselves in to races, political and social events in the middle of a public health emergency.
Come on man, we’re a nation of entitled cry babies.
