Division Line-Up Revised For July 7 Spirit Of 76 Event At Thompson Speedway

(Press Release from American-Canadian Tour)

American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials have announced a change to the division line-up for the Sam Adams Wicked Hazy IPA Spirit of 76 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Wednesday, July 7. A $1,000-to-win 8-cylinder Street Stock Open will replace the Mini Stocks on the schedule of events.

The decision was made due to concerns about car counts in the Mini Stock class at the first two Thompson Speedway oval track events. The rest of the card will remain the same, with the $5,000-to-win Outlaw Open Modified Series main event, Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, Vandi Auto Supply Limited Sportsmen, and SK Light Modifieds making up a six-division program.

“We certainly appreciate the Mini Stocks that did show up at our two events this year and the show they put on for the fans,” ACT managing partner Cris Michaud said. “Unfortunately, there simply wasn’t enough of them to keep the division going for the full Wednesday summer series. We hope to find a way to bring the Mini Stocks back later in the year after the weekly racing at other tracks is over or if we can figure out a special event for them. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to the Street Stock Open on July 7, and we hope to make announcements soon regarding the division line-up at the remaining Wednesday shows.”

The entry form for the Street Stock Open is now available at www.acttour.com/thompson-speedwaywww.proallstarsseries.com, and www.thompsonspeedway.com. The rules are the same as those used for the Street Stock events at the most recent Thompson Icebreaker and World Series of Speedway Racing.

ACT and PASS officials also announced they will begin tracking points for the Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, Vandi Auto Supply Limited Sportsmen, and SK Light Modifieds. The point standings following the first two events, along with the point system being used, will be posted later this week. Going forward, points updates will be done the day following the event. Although any potential point funds are still to-be-determined, the decision allows Thompson Speedway to recognize a champion in each division.

The Thompson Speedway oval returns Wednesday, July 7 at 6:00pm with the Sam Adams Wicked Hazy IPA Spirit of 76. The Outlaw Open Modifieds chase another $5,000 top prize as part of a six-division program with the Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, Vandi Auto Supply Limited Sportsmen, SK Light Modifieds, and a $1,000-to-win Street Stock Open.

General admission is $30 for adults, $10 for kids ages 6-12, and free for kids ages 5 and under. and under. Speed51.TV will also have a live pay-per-view broadcast for those who can’t make it to the track. Sign up at www.speed51.tv/products/ppv-outlaw-open-modified-series-at-thompson.

  1. It’s too bad this was coming for a long ago decision….That was made in rules… WE used to have VW, Chevy, Dodge, Ford, Toyota, Chrysler. BMW, Saturn, Honda and few more that slipped my mind. We had 30 plus cars every week , The Racing was Fantastic…Many different Winners of different models of Cars. Winners.. Ricksom, Michalski’s, Veins, Blanchard, Publicover, Baxter, Henshaw, Perry, Trudeau, Bourgeois,Boudreau, and many other, The Fords started to take over, allowed by rulebook to run Ranger Truck Exhaust Manifolds, Then Eslingler Heads, and on and on. So we said your gonna have nothing but Ford Mustangs the way the rules are going. Well they favored the REAR wheel drive cars so the FRONT wheel drive cars were pushed aside thus mostly FORDS were Winning and other BRANDS disappeared little by Little… TOO BAD the Mini Stocks were always a Good Show with fans rooting for their BRAND of car that many drove on regular Basis… So now the final nail in the coffin… REWRITE THE RULES so every brand and make has a Chance like in NH Tracks.. Division goes out of existence without a peep.. Long History at Thompson dies due to Bad Rulebook… Bad Decisions … Sea of Mustangs and Gone..
