RaceDayCT Daily Poll: Which Modified Driver Are You Picking For Your Cup Team?

So you’re starting a NASCAR Cup Series today, but you have to put a currently active Modified driver who is not already in the Cup Series behind the wheel. Today’s Daily Poll Question asks, who are you picking? Vote below.

Comments

  1. There are only three options: Bobby Santos III, Bobby Santos III, and Bobby Santos III.

And while Bobby is running my Cup car, I would encourage him to run Modifieds too. Heck, I might even field a Modified car to complement the Cup car, and have Bobby drive both.

  2. I went Bobby Santos. I think Coby having seen what he did with SRX might be a good choice too. Since we are just having fun here I am going with a Hendrick style super team. I am going to round out my team with Max Mclaughlin and Mckennedy. Probably stash Christopher Jr and Dowling in driver development deals or xfinity series. Racing in North east is gonna suck. They lost a lot of talented drivers with the formation of CSG motorsports LLC

  3. Hey who won the fantasy pick 5 from Loudon?

  4. Hey.
I love Bobby santos. But. It’s about youth.
I went with max because of versatility of asphalt and dirt. The cup owners know it. Loose is fast. If you run dirt, then that snap on the ass end feels normal. Plus, being young, willing to take the risk. Yup might end up bad, but, might end up good! Fantasy, right?

  5. Fast Eddie says

Hey Bobf, if you saw Santos effortlessly powersliding through the corners in the NEMA light on his way to winning the Icebreaker, you might rethink your choice. Max it very talented, no doubt, but with all of Bobby’s experience on so many different tracks and cars, I’m sticking with him!

  6. Fast Eddie;
No argument, and I wrestled with it for sure. No question santos has way more years of experience as well. But, I gotta give it to a few of the young guys starting to make noise. It was fantasy, and I figured I’d think out of the box a little bit. But of course Eddie, my history of picking winners is extremely suspect, as my picks for last weekends Mod race at NH proves I probably should not be picking anything at at!!

  7. Unfortunately my NASCAR Cup team is underfunded. Consequently the first driver I’m talking to is Ronnie Williams. A little short on pizzazz but a capable, intelligent driver not afraid to mix it up that will say all the right things at the right time and has the family business. My pitch is to the entire Williams clan hoping to bring the weight of Empower Retirement behind Ronnie and my team to give us the resources to compete.. Along the way endeavoring to get the involvement of some of the New England Patriots a team Empower also supports.

  8. Max has done well in other series, but has far to go in Tour Type Modifieds, he has not been impressive. He might make the 77 look better than what Putnam does with it, but Max has a long way to go in a Tour Type Mod to get near Santos, Silk, Preece, et al.

  9. The Atomic Punk says

    Santos.

  10. Fast Eddie says

I hear you Bobf, I’ve certainly proved I’m no genius when it comes to making picks! However, I’m still trying to keep the 12-year old inside of me alive and have fun!
Doug, an interesting “closer to real life” fantasy team approach! Almost sounds plausible, very cool!
Dareal, agreed, Max has shown some really good potential, but he’ll be in “development mode” dfor a while. Sure has an excellent teacher!

  11. Agree with all points. Just taking a shot, albeit while standing on shaky ground.

Nobody knows… Doug can’t do simple arithmetic and kept screwing it up, and then kept changing the rules and interpretation of the rules.

All I know is that Liz and I both picked Preece.

  13. Experience and trickery will always prevail over youth and enthusiasm.

  14. My biggest concern is sponsorship and who will have the ability to bring that to the table to fund the team.

I am zeroing in on two candidates neither having any real experience in Cup.

BSIII at 35 is one of the best in the business, has the exposure however, my only concern is his age and can he bring the $$$$ to the table. I would think due to the exposure he may be able to.

Then we have Max at age, 21. While he may lack exposure he is talented and a proven fast learner. With father Mike Magic Shoes as a coach and mentor this kid has a very bright future. I am also thinking that Mike may still have connections that would be very helpful with sponsorship $$$$$.

I guess it’s going to be an interesting interview process.

Doug is not a computer whiz, he’s not even any good with arithmetic. . Look how many times he had to correct his own work with small numbers and simple addition.

So I’m looking at the Connecticut reopening phases.
Phase 2 to start approx June 20, outdoor events up to 50 people.
Phase 3 at least 4 weeks after June 20, outdoor events up to 100 people.
Um, 4 weeks after June 20 is the end of August. I doubt Phase 4, if there is a Phase 4, will go to several thousand or unlimited people at events.
There are no indications for large crowd gatherings (>100 people) after August.

    NOW REAL SLOW FOR DAREALGOODFELLA

    4…..WEEKS………AFTER……….JUNE ……..20……….IS………..NOT……..THE……….END………OF ……….AUGUST.

AND UNLIKE DOUG DOESN’T CORRECT IT JUST PRETENDS HE NEVER SAID IT.

SNIPET 16: PICKED PREECE TO WIN AT LOUDON BUT THAT WAS JUST A RACE.. HOW’D DAREALGOODFELLA DO ON HIS PREDICTION FOR COVID19 DEATHS????????

    darealgoodfella says
    March 20, 2020 at 5:38 pm
Authorities are expecting around 50-80% infection rates. That means out of 100 people, 50-80 are going to get infected.
The mortality rate appears to be around 4%. That’s about 40x higher than the seasonal flu. It also depends on hygiene, age, general health, etc.
So the USA has a population of 330 million, half of that is 165 million. Then 4% of that is 6.6 million. We are looking at millions of people dying.

WHOA, 6.6 MILLION DEATHS ACCORDING TO DAREALGOODFELLA. EITHER DAREALGOODFELLA IS REALLY BAD AT ARITHMETIC OR TRUMP DID A REALLY GOOD JOB LIMITED DEATHS.
