Fireworks & Demo Derby Join NASCAR Events To Celebrate I Love America Night Aug. 14 At Riverhead

It will be a patriotic celebration of the greatest country in the world Saturday night August 14th at Riverhead Raceway as owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz present the annual I Love America Night program.

A energetic and exciting NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program will be joined by a Fireworks spectacular, bone jarring Demolition Derby and a Kids Big Wheel Race. The 600 horsepower Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds and death defying Figure Eights will spotlight the NASCAR racing.

Right after the opening ceremonies the kids get a crack at racing on the track their heroes race on with the Kids Big Wheel race presented with the lucky winner getting to keep the winning Big Wheel. Gavin Turbush of Riverhead won the seasons first event. The Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds are in the homestretch as to the 2021 championship chase is concerned and will run a 50-lap feature event. Heading into August former two time champion Kyle Soper of Manorville sat atop the rankings. After a month off the wild and crazy Figure Eights are back in action and don’t you dare take your eyes off the “X” crossover. Three time feature event winner in 2021 Scott Pedersen of Shirley will bring a 21-point cushion over Tom Ferrara of Patchogue into the 15-lap feature event.

Also in competition are the INEX Legend Race Cars, INEX Bandoleros and a 8-Cylinder Enduro. The INEX Legend Race Cars are fresh off their August 7th US Legend Cars National Qualifier with George Tomko Jr. of Aquebogue and Eric Hersey of Ronkonkoma the two main 2021 championship contenders heading into that race. The new Bandolero class will be back in action with Darren Krantz Jr. of Huntington leading Chevy Rommeney of Bohemia by 14 with Rodney Dowless of Dix Hills third 18 out in the championship chase. Defending Mini Stock champion and three time winner in ’21 CJ Zukowski of Riverhead takes a slim 2-point margin over former champion Paul Wojcik of Patchogue with Tony Collinsworth of Calverton just 5 out in third and fourth place Tom Puccia of Shirley just 6 out as the 2021 Mini Stock crown is clearly up for grabs. Former Charger champion Richie Carman of Pt. Jefferson leads the 8-Cylinder Enduro standings by six over Pat Collins of Southampton and by ten over Kevin Feeney of Southampton.

Once all the racing is completed the I Love America Fireworks extravaganza will be presented and after enduring the year 2020 a hearty celebration of our country is very much in order. Fans are encouraged to wear some patriotic clothing and head wear for the celebration. Last but certainly not least will be the 4/6-Cylinder Demolition Derby that will bring the curtain down on the festive program. Former National champion Jason Savoy of Lake Panamoka won the most recent Demo on July 10th and was challenged right to the end by Shawn Adler of Lindenhurst and Robert Savoy of Selden.
