STAFFORD – NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Preece has been a fixture at some of the biggest Tour Type Modified events across the Northeast in 2021.

Unfortunately, the demands of his full-time job racing at the top level of NASCAR will force Preece to miss out on one of the biggest Modified events in New England.

On June 30 the Tri-Track Open Modified Series was forced to postpone the Open Wheel Wednesday event at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway. The event is scheduled to be run Wednesday.

Due to an unexpected commitment in North Carolina Wednesday Preece will be unable to return for the race.

“I’ve got other things I’ve got to worry about,” Preece said Friday at Stafford Speedway. “I’m working on trying to figure out something for next year and I have to be around to do those things.”

Preece was disappointed to lose out on the chance of chasing the $10,000 winner’s purse up for grabs Wednesday at Seekonk. He had high praise for the series. Preece has run two of the four Tri-Track events run this season.

“It’s disappointing to not be able to run that race,” Preece said. “They’ve done such a great job building that series and making it what it is today and to pay as well as it does. I enjoy supporting what they do. It’s racers putting on races. I’m really proud of what [series operating partners] Ed Bennett and Wayne Darling, and everybody that’s associated with Tri-Track [Open Modified Series], has done. When you show up it’s a good group of people and a good group of officials and everybody knows when you go there you’re going to have a good time.”

Qualifying was completed for the 100-lap Tri-Track Open Modified Series event on June 30 before a power outtage forced series officials to reschedule the event.

  3. Sounds like he’s either working on saving his ride or getting a ride. It’s his day job and the priority.
