THOMPSON – It was a post-race smoke show that engulfed turn four of the .625-mile Thompson Speedway oval and got carried by the breeze over the turn four grandstands toward the Little T Quarter Midget track.

Fittingly so for the man who’s elated exuberance set off that smoke show following the American-Canadian Tour feature Saturday at the Sunoco World Series at Thompson Speedway.

Derek Gluchacki was 10 years old when his racing career got started in a Quarter Midget at the Little T Speedway.

Saturday night it all came full circle – rather full oval – for the North Dartmouth, Mass. teenager.

Gluchacki scored his first American-Canadian Tour victory in the division’s 75-lap feature Saturday at Thompson.

“To get my first ACT win here, it’s pretty special,” Gluchacki said. “I started racing at the Little T down there when I was 10-years old. To come here and do as good as we did today, that’s really special to me.

“I like the speed here, the racing. You can race side-by-side. It’s got everything. It’s a really nice facility. … I love coming here. It’s just special to me. I’ve been coming here for 10 years. I’ve watched Ryan Preece, Teddy [Christopher], all those guys win here. To be on the list of people that have won is special to me.”

D.J. Shaw of Center Conway, N.H. was second and Ben Rowe of Turner, Maine third. Jimmy Hebert of Williamstown, Mass. and Woody Pitkat of Stafford rounded out the top-five respectively.
