As first reported by RaceDayCT on Thursday, the Tri-Track Open Modified Series made the news official Friday that the series will return to the New London-Waterford Speedbowl for the 2022 season.

Tri-Track Open Modified Series management announced Friday morning that the series will run an event on Aug. 6, 2022 at the shoreline oval.

It will mark the first Tri-Track Open Modified Series at the facility since 2016.

The race at the Speedbowl will mark the seventh scheduled event for the 2022 season for the Tri-Track Open Modified Series.

In 2021 the series ran six events, with two events each at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway, Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H. and Star Speedway in Epping, N.H.

It was announced Thursday afternoon that the Tri-Track Open Modified Series would replace the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour as the anchor event for the 2022 NAPA Fall Final at Stafford.

It was previously announced that the Tri-Track Open Modified Series will make its first visit to Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt. on May 29. Series management has also announced 2022 events series at Seekonk (June 29, Oct. 22), Star (July 23) and Monadnock (April 30).

The Tri-Track Open Modified Series ran two events at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl in 2015, with Ron Silk and Woody Pitkat scoring victories. The series also ran two events at the track in 2016 with Stepen Masse and Matt Hirschman scoring wins.

  1. This is awesome news. I have missed that series. Its good that its set in stone. The whelen tour plays around too much. Let them run the same day and only get 18 cars. Ill gladly take 40 over that any day with a higher purse.

  2. Didn’t you report that Tri-Track wouldn’t go to Waterford because of the management? What happened?

  3. Sean,
Where was that reported here? Feel free to post a link to the story where that was reported.

  4. Sounds great, look forward to going.

  5. 🌈🦄2020 says

I take any announcement about the speedbowl with a grain of salt until I hear from Dafella.

  6. Great news! A$$car lost its appeal a long time ago. Good to see a series that goes back to the “roots” of New England Modified racing.

  7. The Big Show Return’s !

  8. Great to see the TTOMS back at Waterford for 2022.
