Comments

  1. Why wouldn’t you watch it if you can? Might have to turn it off after the last chance races but it might b entertaining.

  2. Heat Races should be interesting…. Hey they are trying something NEW.. So that alone is worth tuning in

  3. Got To Root On Ryan!! Ben Waiting Long Time For Racing. Let’s See These New Cars In A Smashem” Up Bullring Style Race Track. What Is There To Watch? The “Pro Bowl” I Love Football Also, But NASCAR Outranks The “Pro Bowl”!! Go “Preece Lighting” I Am A Little Confused About How Much Money Was Spent To Turn A Football Field Into A Race Track Only To Rip It Up Again!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Just wait for the summer and go to Riverhead in person to take in one of there enduro race’s . It will be more entertaining

  5. This is one of the most important races in NASCAR history.

As for the cost, it is “significantly more than a million dollars”. Even if that means 5 million, it’s still chump change. They spent 400 million on Daytona a few years ago, they could race here 80 years for that.

  6. Viva Race Fan says

Let’s go racing boys and girls.
Great idea lots of hype can’t wait.

  7. David Fisher says

DirtCar Winternationals on Flo, so it’s a tough call. But will probably watch the best one first, then watch the Cup race delayed.

  8. New car, quarter mile track inside a football stadium which should equalize the competition a little bit. I am actually looking forward to it. First time, I have looked forward to the Clash in well forever. I hope they have a good event, if this goes well maybe they can do this once a year to help expand Nascars audience. Definitely going to check it out

  9. Like csg said, new car, bullring track in a football stadium. What more incentive do you need? Over under 10, how many cars will actually finish? I’m going with 8.

  10. Only practice but Preece is P6.
    Expect the unexpected.

  11. I hope they get a good fan turnout for Sunday. There was a tiny turnout for Saturday.

  12. I voted no, but I’ll record it and possibly watch later.

Based on practice results, I don’t think a heavy Cup car on a 1/4 mile track is going to be all that exciting. 66 MPH lap speeds topping the practice charts?

Hopefully the draw is better Sunday. I was reading up on the event, and it’s far different from a typical Cup event with no camping or group trip bus parking. Considering the capacity of the venue and past draws at nearby Fontana, NASCAR is going to have to get pretty lucky to have a full house.

As made for TV as this event is, it could get pretty ugly, as the venue doesn’t have multi-colored seating to disguise empty seats.

  13. Kevin Harvick
“I don’t think you can screw it up at this point,” he said. “The event is here. The racetrack didn’t fly up. Practice went good. The cars all made the corners. People were passing each other, and as our good friend, Jim Hunter (former NASCAR executive), would say, ‘You have to have cars that pass, Kevin’ to make a good race.
“When you look at everything that has happened, the amount of tickets and media passes and all the things – you can’t screw it up at this point. That’s my opinion.”

That’s the same Kevin Harvick that absolutely trashed the new configuration at Atlanta Motor Speedway that is now complete.
Attendance is important for the visual but it’s about TV ratings man. It’s always about the ratings.

  14. What are the COVID protocols in place for social gatherings in SoCal/LA nowadays?

Is this a TV ratings with a few big asterisks due to COVID?

Many sports and arenas have gone back to no fans, TV only events, or very limited attendance. Look at the Olympics.

COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID

Wishful thinking did not work. And again, ignorance did not work.

In a little over a month or so, the American death toll from COVID will exceed one million lives.

    Will you be next?
