Last year Hailie Deegan turned heads in three events with the SRX Series, not just for her ability to get to the front, but also for her battles with series bad boy Paul Tracy.

Deegan, who runs full-time with David Gilliland Racing on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, ran SRX Series events last year at Knoxville (Iowa) Speedway, Slinger (Wis.) Speedway and at the Nashville (Tenn.) Fairgrounds Speedway.

This year Deegan will return to the series for two events, with Stafford Speedway being one of those events.

The SRX Series announced Wednesday that Deegan will race in the Stafford event on July 2 and also in the series event at Federated Auto Parts Raceway in Pevely, Missouri on July 16.

Deegan is the ninth driver to be confirmed for the SRX Series event at Stafford. Also confirmed to be running in the Stafford event are Tracy, Ryan Newman, Helio Castroneves, Marco Andretti, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Greg Biffle, Bobby Labonte and Michael Waltrip. The Stafford field will also include the winner of the 50th NAPA Spring Sizzler on April 23 at Stafford.

Deegan had finishes of second (Knoxville), fourth (Slinger) and tenth (Nashville) in SRX Series action last year. Deegan and Tracy had some heated moments on and off the track at Slinger in 2021.

  1. This is great news. I’m a big fan of hers. She is a great racer and she can run with the best of them. You Go Girl!

  2. Great addition to the SRX. She can definitely get it done!

  3. She is probable very capable but the S in SRX stands for superstar and I’m not sure she’s there yet, there is a few others that probably shouldn’t be called superstars either but that’s just my opinion and I know what options are like!!

  4. The woman can drive and will draw people to the event and TV coverage. So the “S” really stands for spectators as that is what everyone wants. If she runs the whole series she will win one or more.

  5. Then why didn’t you complain about the local hero racing at each event?

  6. Excellent question/point. I think the local hot shot is an interesting addition. Tony knows what he is doing. All about putting butts in the seats and getting eyeballs on the TV events.

Go Hailie, I’d love to see a buncha gals running weekly at Stafford kickin the boys butts.

  8. I love to see great racing. Haile in similar equipment to the others will level the playing field a lot but we know it is impossible to make all the cars exactly the same. NASCAR is proof of that. They have been constantly trying to make all the cars the same for many years. It will never work. I’ll be watching it on satellite TV.
