In most instances there’s a growing period when it comes to a new race team bringing the pieces together for success.

That doesn’t see to be the case at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl for Eric Berndt and his pairing with the first year Ferguson Motosports team.

For the third time in six events this year it was Berndt, of Cromwell, celebrating in victory lane Saturday. Berndt topped the field in the 35-lap SK Modified feature at the Speedbowl.

Berndt also won the Blastoff event on May 21 and the June 11 feature. Saturday’s win was his 20th career SK Modified victory at the shoreline oval.

Dana DiMatteo of Farmington was second and Timmy Jordan of Plainfield third.

Ray Christian Jr. of Uncasville won for the second consecutive week in the 30-lap Late Model feature. Jason Palmer of Berlin was second and Andrew Molleur of Shelton third.

Kyle Gero of Uncasville led the way in the 25-lap Truck feature. Todd Taylor of Stonington was second and Tyler Chapman of Mystic third.

Shawn Gaedeke of Groton won the 25-lap Street Stock feature. Brian Norman of Clinton was second and Al Stone III of Durham third. Sam Mesick of East Lyme got his first career victory in the 25-lap Mini Stock feature. Brody Monahan of Waterford won the 25-lap Legends feature.

  2. Apologies to the readers for putting the results under the wrong story.

  3. Why aren’t there quotes from the drivers in the Waterford articles?

  4. Danny,
The most recent general manager (who quit on June 18) expressed to me in 2020 that track management did not want any media on site covering events unless all material to be published was first reviewed and approved by management. I can assure you that no journalstic entity with any credibility will cover events under that type of restriction. Hence why you never see any actual coverage of events in publications like the Day of New London or the Norwich Bulletin. What you read on this site is what I can cull from readily available public information from the track. I publish a story after every event because I think the competitors deserve at least that simple recognition for their successes even if track management doesn’t want any media there to cover what they’re doing. Obviously you don’t think that’s enough, and I’m sorry you have that opinion. Maybe if it’s an issue that bothers you that much you should take it up with track management.

  5. It’s easy to win three races when only 10 cars show up I wouldn’t go to speed bowl if you paid me to go maybe next year somebody we’ll take over and run the place better

  6. Try it sometime. It’s not easy doing everything necessary to be on the track let alone winning a race no matter what it is or how many cars.

  7. Where does Keith Rocco race Saturday nights nowadays?

  8. Phil A,
Keith hasn’t raced on Saturday nights in quite a few years.
