When the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series hits the track at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Aug. 6 the hottest Modified team in racing will be there looking to grab the victory from series regulars.

Tommy Baldwin Jr., owner of Tommy Baldwin Racing, confirmed to RaceDayCT Wednesday that he will field a car for Mike Christopher Jr. in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series event on Aug. 6 at the Speedbowl.

“We’re coming,” Baldwin said. “It was a weekend that we didn’t have anything going on. But also, I haven’t raced Waterford myself in, I think 35 years I haven’t even seen the place. I just wanted to come back. I like going to places I haven’t been to in a long time or I’ve never been to. It’s just one that I put on the list to try to hit for this year.”

The event on Aug. 6 marks the first Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series event at the Speedbowl since 2016.

Christopher is one of a handful of drivers that have turned the wheel this year in the Baldwin stable.

Christopher got his first NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory driving for Baldwin on May 28 at Jennerstown (Pa.) Speedway. Doug Coby (two wins) and Jimmy Blewett also have Whelen Modified Tour victories for Baldwin in 2022.

Christopher also won the Thompson Outlaw Modified Icebreaker 125 at Thompson Speedway on April 9 and followed that up with a victory in the Nutmeg State 75 presented by Twisted Tea on June 15 at Thompson.

Christopher, who runs regularly in the SK Modified division at Stafford, also has four SK Modified starts this year at the Speedbowl.

TBR sure races a lot. In addition to Claremont this weekend they are also running Blewitt at Riverhead and this race at Waterford next weekend. I’d be surprised if they don’t run North Wilkesboro as well. The only other team that races nearly as often is the #60. Both teams are dialed in. Correlation?

Does anybody know the ticket price for the Waterford Tri Track show? Have not been able to find it on their website.

  3. I’m a HUGE FAN OF BOTH MCJ AND TBR looking to see them toward the front pack .

  4. If you finally figured out how to make a car run, and you’re having fun, you’d run just about every chance you could too.
