Landing The Big One: Ryan Preece Celebrating What He Fought So Hard To Attain

The messages of congratulations rolling in for Ryan Preece on Wednesday ran the gamut in racing, from short track weekly racers to NASCAR Hall of Fame members.

It was announced Wednesday that Preece will take over the No. 41 NASCAR Cup Series ride for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2023.

Over his team competing regularly in NASCAR’s national divisions, Preece has been a driver who has earned the respect of many of the biggest names in the sport.

Wednesday it was names he idolized growing up in racing congratulating him.

“It’s humbling,” Preece told RaceDayCT Wednesday “… It’s something that I’ve been fighting for. It’s still really cool. I feel like I have a lot of respect with some of my peers and people, obviously Tony [Stewart] and Kevin [Harvick], [seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion] Jimmie Johnson messaged me earlier [today]. Guys that I’ve idolized that we’ve all watched on TV. To have them basically shoot me a message congratulating you on an opportunity like that, that means a lot to me.”

  1. This is getting better.

Drivers like Ryan Preece and Ross Chastain are making NASCAR interesting again.

I hope Tony Stewart realizes how lucky he is.

  2. Glad to hear Ryan has landed a ride with a quality team…nothing against JTD racing but the quality of the ride just wasn’t there.

  3. Ryan has proven that YOU CAN get there from here!… WIth a lot of hard work and a ton of determination. I would bet that had a lot to do with Harvick and Stewart recognizing him for it. Nice to know that still matters to some at the top levels of racing and not just sponsorship $$.

  4. if I recall,, Preece posted a good number of top 10’s the last time up.. great to hear he’s back (now have someone to root for at upper levels),, best wishes..

  5. I’m sure Zippy had something to do with the hiring a few from New Britain,Berlin ,Southington area have worked at SHR over the years
