On June 15 Tim Jordan celebrated his 39th birthday, one year from the big 40.

Saturday night at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl the veteran racer celebrated a different sort of big 4-0.

Jordan won the 60-lap SK Modified special event Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

It was the second SK Modified win of the season and his 13th overall in the division.

It was also the 40th feature victory overall at the Speedbowl for Jordan. The former SK Modified and Late Model division champion also has 22 Late Model wins and five Mini Stock victories.

Jordan, of Plainfield, began racing at the track in the Mini Stock division in 2002.

“It makes you kind of look back on all the years,” Jordan told RaceDayCT. “It’s really cool to get 40 track wins. I know it’s not a huge number, but it’s hard to get numbers like that today with the competition being so good. It’d definitely cool. Hopefully we’re not done yet. Just want to try to keep doing what we’re doing down there. That’s the plan this year to just come and win the races. It sounds cliche but it’s what we’re focusing on. So far, so good.”

Jordan, the 2020 SK Modified champion at the Speedbowl, leads the division standings after six events this season. Eric Berndt sits second, seven points behind Jordan. Owen, the two-time defending division champion, is third in the standings, 17 points behind Jordan.

Ryan Morgan of North Franklin was second and Todd Owen of Somers third.

Late Model veteran Jason Palmer also cracked a milestone Saturday at the Speedbowl.

Palmer of Berlin won the 30-lap Late Model feature for his third win of the season. It was the 42nd Late Model victory at Waterford for Palmer and his 95th feature win overall at the Speedbowl. It moved Palmer into sole possession of fourth place on the track’s all-time win list overall. Palmer had been tied for fourth with Bob Potter.

Another great night of racing! some bad luck for a few competitors, and some records being broken, very cool! And speaking of cool, it went from muggy, to a nice, and cool night of racing when the sun went down.

That was the scariest fire I have seen in quite a while in the late models.

Shawn’s favorite driver wins again at Waterford with those “tour” shocks . it would take 3 years of feature wins to pay for what Timmy stock has spent on that equipment. Kopcick or Stone got him fixed up alright ! I don’t know how he can smile, must have deep pockets . I think the promotor , whoever it is at Waterford this week ( the girl who sings the anthem?) should pay Glenn Reen to come to Waterford and add to the car count and the on track drama ! put a bounty on Timmy Jordan !
