The 2023 American-Canadian Tour championship comes down to one of the most versatile speed plants in the Northeast as point leaders Gabe Brown and D.J. Shaw roll into New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday, October 21 for the Haunted Hundred! While Shaw and Brown battle for the ACT Tour championship, just 21 points apart, the Brookside Equipment Sales Southern New England Triple Crown is also on the line in the exciting double-header with the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series!
Hudson, New Hampshire’s Dave Dion won a first pair of 100 lap features at the Waterford Speedbowl in 1982 and 1983 for the ACT touring series before Milton, Vermont’s Brent Dragon won the return to coastal Connecticut 20 years later. In the on and off years since, former ACT champions Scott Payea, Brian Hoar and Joey Polewarczyk Jr. and Oxford 250 champion Roger Brown have all taken the checkers at the Speedbowl.
Last year’s outing was won by ACT hard-charger Derek Gluchacki and the North Dartmouth, Massachuestts-native is looking to make it two-in-a-row. Coming off a strong run at the 61st Vermont Milk Bowl at Thunder Road where he set the fast-time pole and placed sixth overall in his inaugural run in a season where he’s already taken five ACT-sanctioned wins, Gluchacki is looking to ride out 2023 on top.
Point leader Gabe Brown will certainly be standing in his way as Brown looks to wrap up some unfinished business. The Center Conway, New Hampshire-native led the majority of last year’s Shoreline 150 but was relegated to a fourth-place finish during the final 100-lap green-flag run.
Speedbowl regular Andrew Molleur is another one to watch as the Sheldon, Connecticut youngster looks to take the home field advantage all the way to victory lane and overturn Tanner Woodard in the Rookie of the Year battle. Meanwhile, Shaw, Gluchacki and Erick Sands top the Brookside Equipment Sales Southern New England Triple Crown standings moving into the final championship round. Seekonk winner Joey Polewarczyk Jr. is a definite dark-horse candidate as he’ll be digging for his fourth ACT win at Waterford next Saturday.
Along with full time Touring stars Jimmy Renfrew Jr., Quebec’s Jonathan Bouvrette and Bryan Wall Jr., a litany of invaders are also joining the showcase, each vying to end their 2023 season in victory lane!
The American-Canadian Tour returns to New London-Waterford Speedbowl for the Haunted Hundred championship event alongside the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series, the Don Craddick Memorial SK Light Modified 50 and Open Street Stock 50 on Saturday, October 21. A must see event. Weather permitting of course. I miss the big 2 and 3 day end of season events so if it rains this weekend the next weekend will be a busy 2 days at least.
Is this going to be broadcast on Flo?
A nice big field of 38 act cars so far. That’s without any of the speedbowl regulars. Pretty sure Brody Monahan and others will end up attempting to qualify. Maybe close to 50 will show up?
The way the forecast continues to look, I’d say we’re probably looking at a Sunday race.

Sunday huh, hmmm, what to watch. The New England Patriots at one against the Bills or two jam packed premier races at Creepy Bruce’s Speedbowl. Probably moved closer to 1 considering all the heats, consi’s and features that will have to be run in a jam packed day.
Not a fair fight by gum. It’s on to the Speedbowl, virtually speaking that is.
