Evan Bourgeois has been the man to beat in points paying events for the SK Light Modified division in 2023 at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

On Sunday with no points on the line, just a big paycheck, it was Bourgeois once again standing out.

Bourgeois, East Haddam, drove away from the field over the late stages to win the 50-lap SK Light Modified feature Sunday at the Haunted Hundred at the New London-Waterford Speebowl.

Bourgeois, who leads the SK Light Modified standings at the Speedbowl with one event remaining, earned $2,000 for the victory Sunday.

“I knew we were going to single-file out eventually,” Bourgeois said. “I was just waiting for my time. We were racing pretty hard at the beginning there. And then just saved my tires, saved my equipment for the end and I was just kind of riding at the end. … This is the biggest event of the year and it’s pretty cool to win.”

Meghan Fuller of Auburn, Mass. was second and John O’Sullivan of Salem third.

Ryan Lineham of Hope Valley, R.I. topped the field in the 50-lap Street Stock Open feature. Corey Fanning of Mapleville, R.I. was second and Scott Serydynski of West Greenwich, R.I. was third.
