Eric Berndt of Cromwell got his third victory of the season in the 35-lap SK Modified feature Saturday at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.
Timmy Jordan of Plainfield was second and Todd Owen of Somers third.
Andrew Molleur of Shelton of was fourth to vault back into the lead of an ultra-tight championship chase for the division.
Jordan and Anthony Flannery – who was eighth on Saturday – sit tied for second in the standings, one point behind Molleur. Owen, the three-time defending division champion, is fourth in the standings, nine points off the lead. Berndt is fifth, 15 points behind Molleur.
Jason Palmer of Berlin topped the first of two 30-lap Late Model features.
It was the 106th career win at the Speedbowl for Palmer, inching him to within one victory of tying Phil Rondeau for second on the track’s all-time win list. Keith Rocco leads the track’s all-time win list with 154 victories. It was Palmer’s 53rd career Late Model victory. He also has 53 Legends division victories at the Speedbowl.
Palmer, who has Late Model championships at the Speedbowl in 2015, 2020, 2021 and 2023, currently lead the division standings.
Jordan Hadley of Waterford second in the first Late Model feature and Ray Christian III of Uncasville was third.
Ryan Morgan of Mystic won the second 30-lap Late Model feature. Christian was second and Doug Curry of Groton was third.
Nikolas Hovey topped the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature. Division points leader Evan Bourgeois of East Haddam was second and Sami Anderson of Wolcott was third.
Norm Root III scored his division leading fourth victory of the season in the 25-lap Street Stock feature. Al Stone III of Durham was second and Aaron Plemons of Uncasville was third.
David Dorr of Gales ferry won the 25-lap Mini Stock feature. Charles Canfield of East Haven was second and John Bavolacco of Stratford was third.
Brad Strickland of Uncasville topped the 25-lap Truck feature. Austin Long of Waterford was second and Jake Coutu of Moosup third.
